When do I use a quilt? Non cellular blanket?

At what age is it recommended for a child to have a quilt or a normal blanket? Just thinking about the incoming winter and some lovely snuggly quilts I have seen today. DD is 1 in December.

quilts are supposed to be ok from 1 year. Blankets ok from birth.
