Decent but not too pricey bikes for 7 year old twin boys-where do I start?

Dp is a very keen cyclist and the boys are good.

Dp has a long list of wants as wants to start going on longer rides with them.

They are 7 in a few weeks and dp wants front suspension and gears.

Looked at the Isla bike site but they're a tad pricey. Ideally don't want to spend more than £150 each but maybe a tad more.

They're twins so they need to be new really as highly unlikely we'd get 2nd hand the same-then they'd fight.

Only got 6 weeks to sort it out-heeeeelp!!!!

Probably not very helpful to you, but we bought dd2 (aged 6 at the time) a bike from Islabike. It really is fab and has been money very well spent so far.

You can trade them back in for the next bike and apparantly they sell quickly and for good money on ebay (so I've been told!) so despite the initial outlay, it shouldn't work out too expensive

Dd has this one, but hers is grey with red accents

How do you choose which one to get on that site? They do look lovely.

How long des each year group last-just a year or longer?

There is a size chart on the site. It gives you an approximate age and a minimum/maximum inside leg. I'll try to do a link ...

I'm not sure how long they're supposed to last but there does seem to be a good range so I would hope it lasts a good couple of years. Dd has got the Beinn 20 large for age 6+. It's on the lowest setting still and she's 7yrs 5months. She is pretty small though.

This company sell really lovely Dawes bikes and others, just ordered for my dc for Christmas, really knowledgeable owners who will discuss what's available in your price range and I think maybe that they do free delivery in the UK.

argos have got great 20" bikes with gears on sale at the mo about £70 each.
