What should newborns wear in September?

My DD was a winter baby so it was easy to know what to dress her in during the first few months.

I am due with my second in two weeks and wondering what I should dress the newborn in. Do I still need to use bodysuits/vests? How much bedding will I need to use?

Depends how cold Sept is! Think the general rule of thumb is one more layer than you would wear.....I think I started putting ds in vests in Sept (he was a May baby....)

I hear military style jackets are very 'in' this Autumn, but the gypsy look has had its day.

sorry!

My dd was a sept. baby. For most of the autumn and winter she had a short sleeved vest under everything (incl. sleepsuits) and coat/hoody/snowsuit to go out in depending on the weather.

dd was end of August baby and I'm sure she went into vest and all in one as the weather turned while weere in hospital. Then added a cardi or jacket as required. Think I did just one blanket to start with but then she didn't really sleep in her cot for a while ...

So no-one is optimistic for an Indian Summer then?!

I'd better pack the bodysuits in my hospital bag. Oh sigh!

My ds was born last Sept. He was always warm!
Lovely fleece outfits bought for him were never worn he was such a hot little man!!
I would put on a vest and sleep suit. 1 sheet and a blanket!! Well thats what I did.

You've got to go by the temp outside really. Last sept was quite warm if I remember rightly whereas when dd was born it was quite autumnal already so I just stuck her in vests. It's hard to judge to begin with as it's so bloody stuffy and hot in hospital so it's hard to tell! I can't remember dd being in anything that had no arms or legs in until the late spring.

Layers are easier than one thick fleece thing IMO.

Vest, babygro with feet (and maybe those attached mitts that you can pull over their hands), optional shawl when leaving the hosp (easier than putting a cardi on).

Hi beatie! - my dd1 was born in sept - she wore vests long sleeve & short sleeve plus a babygro and a cardi with socks & hat when out & about. I carried her in a babysling. Would say go for lots of layers that you can take off as necessary. Plus a bag to put them in when out. When it got cold I used a snowsuit to put her whilst in the sling. This time I've got the same sort of outfits plus a blanket for the carseat.

My ds was a sept baby and it was so hot that year he spent the first few weeks in just a vest, it was boiling.
