'Older' mums - does it bother you to be mistaken for your DCs' grandmother? Does it bother your DCs?

With just DS (now 6yo) I used to very occasionally get mistaken for his grandmother, but with DD (2yo) I am frequently assumed to be her grandmother, especially when DS isn't with us.

TBH it doesn't bother me all that much and it's a handy reminder to book an appointment to get my grey roots retouched, but I wonder if DS and DD wil be bothered as they get older.

I am nearly 45; DD is nearly 3. I suspect the grandmother assumption will arrive shortly. Not happened so far but I do dye my hair (well, I pay to have it dyed) and I'm often told I don't look my age (although less often than previously).

I too have had my Dad referred to as my partner - really nasty for me, but he seemed very amused - but there again his wife is only 3 years younger than me. Tis all a bit boak.
My DP is slightly older than me and I know he is a bit concerned about looking like an old Dad. His age (and he's not that old - 47) is putting him off having any more kids.

My Dad thinks its funny when people assume he is my dh. He loves being a young Grandad. He was 19 when they had me and is only 56 now.

I'm 44 with a six week old and i have been asked once or twice if she is mine. Yep, I think I was there at the birth somewhere. Although I only had three hours warning she was going to have to be delivered that day so physically I may have been there, I'm not too sure about mentally! i guess i will be mistaken for grand parent at some point, but I was told that I do look a fairly young 44, so hopefully maybe not just yet!

I got asked this w/end if my DD was my GD - she is 4 and I am 37 Shock I was too busy trying to
a) work out whether I had heard her correctly
b) work out whether I really looked that bad
c) work out if she could not see I am 6 months pregnant
d) work out if I was old enough

By which point the moment to respond had passed - must be my ageing brain Grin
