Washing nappies- How many washes a week?

Hello

As I live abroad, I'm planning to buy my washing powder in Uk (as I can't get non-bio where I am).

roughly how many extra washes do you do cos of reusable nappies? I normally do 3 washes a week.... so I'm figuring an extra wash maybe?

And can you chuck reuseables in with normal washing?

Thanks
Hayley

You can put them in with other washing although I would do a rinse with just nappies in first. Have you thought about using soap nuts? You can order them online and great for sensitive skin too. I do an only wash every other day (but have 1 in nappies and 1 in training pants)

I do about 4 washes a week for the nappies by themselves.

I don't use non-bio and wash them with my normal washing liquid (Bold). All my DS clothes are washed with Bold too.

You may want to see if you really need to use non-bio in order to make your life easier?

sorry to hijack - but why do we use non-bio on nappies? Everyone I know uses non-bio, even if they normally use bio, so I do too but no idea why!

The number of washes will depend on the number of nappies you have, the size of your wet/dirty nappy storage and the age of your DC. I did 1 or 2 nappy washes a day when mine were tiny, but by the time DD potty trained, I was doing 3 a week. I had around 14 nappies. Yes, you can wash them with everything else, particularly if they're just wet (unless your child has a stomach bug, in which case best not).
Gok, non bio is recommended because it's generally milder on skin, I think.

The enzymes in bio can aggravate delicate skin.

I do two nappy washes a week for one toddler, I think it was sometimes more when he was a small baby and getting through them more. I do a wash once I have a dozen or so, and throw baby clothes in with them. Sometimes I'll throw a wet nappy in with other washing but not when MrNC can see as he thinks his clothes will smell (they don't!)

I do a nappy wash every 2 days, i wash them seperatly mainly because they wont fit in with normal clothes as all 3 kids are always dirty!

I alway use non-bio as its DP that is irritated by bio, kids are tough as old boots like me. I use same for everything saves me buying 2 lots :)
