Help !! 2 year old holding onto poo for days

My 2 year old ds is well on his way to be dry day & night. He was obviously ready & clicked straight awy. Big problem with doing a number 2 though , he won't go on the toilet, in his nappy or on the potty. He is now very constipated - no poo since last Friday & grumpy & sad because of it. What can I do ???

not experienced in this but maybe try something like prune juice or something else that could be used as a mild laxative.

To help with the constipation you could give a little bit of prune. I mixed it with pureed apple for dd.

With regard to using potty, does he watch you do no. 2's so he realises its ok to do?
I know its a bit unhygienic, but my dd watches tv whilst pooing, as sometimes they take sooo long to come out she used to get bored, i find if she watches tv she gets engrossed and lets the poo come out as she is relaxed. Or maybe you could read him a story whilst on the potty. Anything to take the focus away from what he's got to do.

I saw someone else (sorry to whoever i can't remember your name!) suggest explaining about food going into tummy and then the bits our body doesn't need to help it grow come out in our poo. I thought that was a great idea to help your son realise its a good thing to poo not negative.

Good luck!
