scorned women have got nothing on my dd. sometimes she just seems determined to have an argument. we had about an hour of it this morning - triggered, as usual, by a mild rebuke for a minor misdemeanor, which she turned into a reason to want ti go home [we're on hokiday], a reason to be rude abiut dd2's lego creations, to go to bed etc etc. we determindly played it down, ignored her, gave her get out clauses, eventually i had to leave and go for a walk or i was going to really loose it. dh made specific and serious threats. she calmed down eventually but what really pisses me off is that it was totally over nothing and not an isolated incident. normal? a phase? her nature? please don't tell me it's the last coz i'm not sure we'd survive the teenage years...

Does your 5yo argue with you about everything? Sorry I don't have any experience with bad temper, but DS1 is also 5, very stubborn, and only rarely believes that "Mother knows best". So I don't know how I'm going to survive the teen years, either.

Did you see the Transformed programme on telly the other night, either? About bad-behaviored teens?

Hi there,
I have 5 year old boy and it makes hubby laugh the way he and I can argue with each other!
It can be over nothing but I think making new friends at school and getting more and more confidence he has developed this 'answer back' attitude and sometimes just be downright stubborn!
But for the majority of the time, he is my little angel and usually well behaved and is doing well in school, so I can forgive 'a few' outbursts.
I tend to try to walk away rather than get into a shouting arguement with him when he gets into one of his strops with me and then I'm sure he feels like he isnt getting anywhere by argueing.
