Hi

I am thinking seriously about using reusables with baby (due Nov) - I have always used disposables before but cant quite get my head around the amount of stuff Id be sending to landfill if I do that again .. Am also living in an area with a nappy laundering service so that helps !!

Anyway, I am completely confused about all the differing types and styles available..Can I use them from birth and are there any styles that are particularly great ?

Any advice gratefully recieved x

I used the Laundry service with DC1 for the first few months, mainly to make it a bit easier on myself. Then I bought a load of Motherease.

Our council promotes the use of Real Nappies and there are a few schemes to choose from, including £30 cashback.

It may be worth getting in touch with your council to see if they have any schemes, they may also have some different ones to try out.

If you are using the laudry service you usually have to use their nappies. They pick up your dirty ones and leave a fresh batch. The services usually use prefolds and you buy the wraps to use over them.

You def can use washables from birth and their are a few types out there. I used muslins with a nippa to start with but there are fitted nappies for example tots bots that will fit a newborn with a wrap. Birth to potty nappies dont usually fit until a baby is around 8-10lbs. Fitted nappies with a wrap tend to contain everything a bit better in newborns ;)

To be honest theres not much more work washing yourself its just an extra wash before you go to bed every 2 days so id save your cash. If you must use a laudry service id recommend a motherease wrap to go with prefolds

Good luck with new baba!!
