If you're a single parent can you still go to college full time?

I've been accepted onto the access course starting in september but circumstances are about to change and I think I will be a single parent by then. Will I be forced onto jobseekers???

Hiya,

im a single parent and have just finished doing 2 years at college doing svq levels. I was still allowed to claim income support and still receive housing benefit and i was excempt from council tax due to being a ft student.

Im now going back to do my hnd which will be another 2 yrs and had to apply to saas for funding, but this means you can no longer claim benefits and live off all other funding available from saas and your chosen place of study.. i get help with childcare costs etc and can apply for a hardship fund through my uhi.. hope this helps x
