Help - crunchy tots bots!!

A very boring query but here goes.
I normally use MEOs but recently borrowed some tots off a friend & think they are v cute BUT after I've washed them they've dried all crunchy & hard. I've tried tumbling them for 20 mins or so but not a lot of use. If I use fabric softener will it make them less absorbant?
TIA

Excellent, rains a lot up here so shouldn't be too much of a problem!

Apparently white vinegar works as well if you put it in the rinse cycle.

could it also be detergent build up....

nappies beneift form a 'good wash' withput any detergent some times as well

that may help.... then hang them in the rain and they should be super soft again!

I've jsut had to "strip" my Tots, I thought I'd got a lovely routine going and then noticed they ponged abit so gave them an extra rinse - the bubbles were practically coming out the door!!! Well they've been washed to within an inch of their lives now.
