Do I need to wash muslins before using as nappies to increase absorbency?

As per my previous post I am planning to use muslins with a nippa and wrap as newborn nappies initially. I wondered, are muslins like shaped nappies i.e. do I need to run them through a wash (without detergent) 3 times before using to increase the absorbency? Or can they be used immediately?
Thanks!!

Wash them. I can't remember if I washed them once or a few times prior to using as newborn nappies, but definitely at least once.

It wont increase absorbancy but id wash them at least once just incase they have anything on from manufacturing process that may irritate your babys delicate skin
