1 year old suddenly hating bedtime with a passion - help!

Our dd is a year old next week and out of nowhere it seems she has taking a great hate to being put down in her cot for bedtime. She's always gone down brilliantly at bedtime, until the past week. She usually goes down by about 7.30, however last night it was 11pm by the time she was asleep - we'd done everything that we could think of! For the past three nights now as soon as she sees her cot I can see the look of dread in her face and the second I've put her down she's stood up wailing before I've left the room. She's soothed if we get her out and sit her on one of us/ rock her etc, but no matter how sleepy she is, the second she's put back down she's screaming. Tonight I didn't get her out of her cot once, but kept going in every few minutes to give her a quick kiss, tell her I love her and sit her back down. After an hour of this she fell to sleep. I feel so bad for her - is there something obvious I'm not doing? Any suggestions greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance.

It's developmental. She's probably on the verge of walking or just walking?

They lose the ability to self settle. Their brain tells them to get up, walk, get up, walk and on and on and on. They can't help it. They find it impossible to switch off and often end up distressed.

If you've ruled out teething, illness, discomfort etc then it's v v v common indeed.

It doesn't last and I wouldn't worry about rods and backs and habits. Do what you need for now.

It's a wee bit distressing all round but will end when the developmental spurt does.
