Pampers nappies or a urine infection?

This is a cross-post as I didn't realise this topic existed!

I've just today noticed a really stong, unpleasant smell from my 16-month-old daughter's wet nappies... My partner says he's noticed it for a little while and thought it was a 'feature' of the new Pampers nappies (i.e. alerting parents to wet nappies) but I'm worried it's really smelly urine and she has a UTI...

Before I make an doctor's appt for my little girl, has anyone else noticed this with these nappies?

Thanks!

I noticed this too!

I can only describe it as a sickly sweet, heady smell as soon as the nappy gets wet and it drove me to distraction....

When I called Pampers to complain about the nappies, I mentioned the smell and the lady I spoke to said others had said similar things and it was probably the urine reacting with the dry max technology, whatever that means...

A symptom of a UTI is fever so maybe check your DD's temp too for peace of mind

Pampers by far smell worse than any other disposible nappy - there have been many times I have been worried about DS2 smelling, until I realised he was wearing one.

Try a different brand, and see if she still smells.

Thank you for reassuring me! Apart from the smell, DD is perfectly well. And, the really funny thing was, her last two nappies of the day didn't smell at all, even though they were quite full... It seems very strange how it's some from one packet and not others... I definitely think it's the nappies now. I wonder if it's something Pampers have introduced that they're not telling us about - like the less bulky 'feature' from a while back?

Thanks again!

Its the urine mixing with the chemical gels. I usually use cloth nappies, we went to stay at my mums and i forgot the pull ups for DD2, the only thing the village shop sold were pampers and my god i forgot how much they stink! I actually binned them and went all the way home the next day for her washables lol.

Pampers really stink but we bulk bought them before my daughter was born so we have to use them up! Our favourite nappies are Mamia by Aldi Smile
