I'm glad I read this before we hit the beach this year

Blimey, I didn't know that. Very scary.

TrinityRhino · 22/07/2010 09:48

holy fuck is all I can say
I am shocked that I have been so thick not to have realised this before
of course no sound and thrashing as your body will turn every bit of effort to just trying to breathe

that has made me feel sick

frenchfancy · 22/07/2010 19:22

I can confirm this. We have a pool and I have had to fish more than one child out of it. They go under completely silently, and unless you were watching intently, rather than reading a book for example, you would miss it completely.

Conundrumish · 23/07/2010 22:24

FrenchFancy - how come they were drowning? Could they swim? I'm still a bit confused as to why someone who can swim can suddenly loose the ability to and drown (presumably it's once you've swallowed the first batch of water and have started to panic?).
