Sun protection and after care

I have a 5 week old DD and finding it very difficult keeping her out of the sun. I don't like covering her in fabric completely (shawls) as it is so hot and humid at the moment, and she is getting so hot and sweaty.

Please can people advise me on sun cream. I would like something organic or as chemical free as possible, but would like to know what people think is best, safest and easiest to use.

suncream not recommended under 12 months I think, and def not under 6 months.

I use (when i have to) organic/nasties free suncream, and they all say not recommended under 6 months.

I agree shawls not necessary - what about loose fitting cotton clothing? or a sunshade for the buggy/car seat and her wearing just a nappy (I did this quite a bit wih my two)

even now, and my dds are nearly 6 and 3, I tend not to put suncream on them, but keep them covered with loose clothing and teach them to stick to the shade.

I wouldn't put any sun cream on one so little - can you manage with a floppy hat/sunbonnet and long loose clothes? Parasol for a buggy - slings are a bit harder I know but at least they cover up a lot of the body.
