The mothercare one feels very soft to me. Any help appreciated as I don't have transport to go round and test them all! Thanks!

John Lewis ones are good.

We got ours from Toys-R-Us ... their Babies-R-Us section have a range and we bought not quite the most expensive one ... it was £99 I think. Its just right in terms of firmness ... no complaints from the baby anyway and he slept in it from week two ... started sleeping through at about 10 weeks. We also let a friend'd daughter use it when the came for a visit before the baby arrived ... she was two at the time and was comfy.

We got the John Lewis one.

Second John Lewis. Think this is the one we got which is nice and firm.

Mamas and Papas offering

We used one of these and it was very good and water resistant (not waterproof)

MrsJamin · 21/07/2010 19:43

Why would you want a waterproof one? It would get very hot and sticky in the summer - mattresses are designed to soak up extra moisture. In the winter I put an extra sheet down just in case of sick etc.

westlondongirl · 21/07/2010 19:55

New at this just assumed that you would need water proof in case of leaks

You can take off the top cover of the JL one and wash it if necessary; when I've been night-training DD I just put one of these under the sheets, so really don't worry about waterproof-ness .

Good tip Rociante - thanks!
