Odd question, I know, but can anyone help me with historic boundaries of Glamorgan?

Can anyone help me find out whether Porthcawl was in East or West Glamorgan, pre the last boundary change when Mid Glamorgan Arrived.

Thank you! I have googled but haven't found anything useful.

I had no luck with Wiki Mavis.

I have to say your last comment sounds really really positive Lunatic. For some reason I can't see what you are seeing on that page, but am assuming it is in the old East? If so, I'm very happy. Are you sure it says it is East?

I got the bit about Mid Glamorgan as (I think!) that's current, but not relevant to my search as it's post 1970's.

I found a promising looking entry in the 1946 Births Marriages and Deaths register which states "E Glamorgan".

I've gone and paid for it now anyway. Wish me luck!

Ahhh! In that case I'll need more than luck

My birth certificate states her place of birth as Porthcawl, Glamorgan. So that doesn't tally to the district that would be on her birth certificate then?

Can you tell I'm new to all of this?

Haven't they scrapped the Mid again now?

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 29/06/2010 10:49

No, it doesn't necessarily tally with the official name of the registration district.

Otherwise it would make it too easy...
