transition from cot to bed

hey there, i have a 30 month old that i want to move from his much loved cot into a bed, have tried a couple of times but given in after much resistance.
heading on hols in 2 weeks and he doesnt really fit in a travel cot anymore.
Thoughts and advice welcome....

I've just transferred my 14 month old into a bed with one of those rail things to stop him falling out. It's a bunk bed (obviously he is on the bottom bunk!)

It's been fine so far, I think he likes the freedom to move about

I only did it because we needed the space in the boys' bedroom. It's worked though!

I have to say, he's discovered a way to get out, even in his sleeping bag. I have to put him back to bed about 5 times before he gives in!
I don't give him eye contact or talk to him when I put him back
