I've got 3 kids all very close in age.(7,6,5)!
Everywhere I go I get asked things like,"Are you tearing your hair out yet?" or "Bet you can't wait for the next three weeks to pass, can you?"etc.etc. What's really weird-and no I'm not earth-mother or anything like that-I enjoy the freedom that holidays bring! I admit when they were a bit younger I couldn't wait to ship them off to nursery for half a day and I admit I nag them like any other mother but , when all's said and done, I enjoy having my kids around. I enjoy hopping on a bus and going on "mystery tours". Admittedly, they're usually to the next town or "Nanna's"!!!,but still I enjoy their company when i'm out and about. Mostly!

I feel the same as you. I am dreading when they go back to school. I hate the school runs and the day ot day drudgery that goes with it. Enjoying being with my kids - 7 and 6

No you're not. I'm not at all bored of the summer holidays (although admittedly, that may be because kids are at my mum's at the moment (again - for the second time this holiday!) and I like having them around without having to harry them in the mornings to get ready for school).

And I haven't even done anything yet! No beach, no outings - nothing. But they don't seem to mind, they're no boarder than they normally are. (And when it was cold last week with no sun, we watched the three Star Wars films on consecutive afternoons. Bliss.)

so i'm not that out of the ordinary then? i tell you what's really getting to me aswell is the dark nights all of a sudden.They're making me think the summer's over already.

my dd is away at the mo and i am missing her like mad and my sd i like it when we have a full house they are 5 and 7

got to go for a minute. my seven year old has come in from rehearsals for a play she's in next week-all hyped up and ready to go! i love it...she's got no school in the morning so who cares?!

And I like having mine at home too - not done much because I've just had ds, but they are happy and I like having them around

I usually hate the 6 week break as my kids drive me mad and I am not good at taking them out anywhere, but I must admit, I am enjoying it a bit more this year - the freedom thing, not having to get up or get dressed straightaway, letting the kids stay up late, lounging around reading in the garden letting the house go to pot...

Love the holidays and am very sad that school starts again next week. I hate having to conform to other people's rules!

I hav eloved having my little one home and not having to rush around for the pre-school run. I only hope I still feel the same if I ahve a third!

I love holidays too. People always assume my 4 are stressful. I wouldn't have had them all if I didn't want them. I taught all mine at home for most of last year, and when they went back to school all the really silly rules really hit home. I realise how little bright children in particular achieve in the course of a day.

I love not having to do the school run. I really miss my children when they are at school. I'm still not sure that school is the best place for my children.

I have enjoyed the holidays, they go back next week and I hate that they don't have as much time after school for sailing and stuff.

Before my kids started school and even before I had a car we used to jump on the train and go for picnics all over theplace. MIL was always surprised to find I was 50 miles away enjoying fishsuppers at the beach. I think she got used to it eventually, although I suspect she thought I should be doing by ironing or something.

I have spent a great few days a our local country park as DS has been enjoying his club there for a few hours while DD and I get lost in the woods or enjoy the beach. 2 hr long lunches etc. Had to work a couple of days and really felt I was missing out.
