get sand out of swimming costumes? It's ingrained. will it ever come out?

I usually hold it under a tap and turn it on so it blasts the sand out.

My kids hardly ever go to the beach so we don't have this problem often.

both the kids swimwear is on the bathroom floor at the moment, waiting for me to go and get the sand out!

Sometimes it comes out better when the costume is dry as wet sand sticks. Stretch the material and try to brush it out.
