any mumsnetters who can help with this one - would really appreciate it.
DP has given up job (long, long story - couldn't cope basically)
He has been diagnosed by GP with depression. Does anyone know if he can claim any kind of sick pay/incapacity benefit or does he actually have to be working to be able to claim this?
appreciate it - we're in a bit of a mess at the mo

No advice really, katie, except to suggest ringing your local CAB, they usually know this stuff - if your GP will sign sick notes for him stating that he is unable to work I would have thought he should be entitled to something though. (When you leave work voluntarily you used to have to wait 6 weeks for unemployment benefit, don't know if sick pay would be the same, or if the whole situation has changed now.)

Anyway {{hugs{}}} and sympathy, what a difficult situation for you all, I hope his depression will be treated successfully and that he will get back to how he was before - it is better to admit that you have a problem and have it sorted than to try to struggle on pretending nothing's wrong. Lots of luck.
