What do you know about bike racks?

What should we get?

One which goes on top of the car?

or one which fits on the back?

We've got an estate, if that makes any difference. I dunno.

What do you think?

It depends on all sorts of factors. The best thing to do is go to a specialist shop (my preference is for an independent if you have one nearby). We decided on one that fits on the back but if you want to be able to open the boot while the bikes are loaded it has to go onto a towbar. That's what we decided on so we had to have a towbar fitted. Ours fits 3 with a small one strapped to the others so 4 altogether. It's great but you can have problems on hilly roads or bridges with it scraping on the road.

Ah, and DH has just said we don't have a tow bar.
