well, I know what i'm doing with most things on this piece of equipment in front of me but....

how do copy music onto a blank cd in my cd drive?
mainly what i want to do is compile an individual cd of my favorite tracks from several other cd's onto one so I don't have to keep skipping tracks & changing cd's in the car.

I know that my cd thingy is writeable & i have some writeable blank cd's but how do i do it when theres only one cd part.

I am assuming I some how play the cd & copy it onto my hard drive, then put in the blank cd & copy it back of the hard drive?

I have windows xp & windows media player installed.....anyone able to help?

Tech is this something you could assist with or am i asking an unmumsnettable favour?

cheers

I'll tell you but do you really want to go into nutty com. bahaviour;0 Where are you getting the music from, are you downloading it, wanting to record your own, or have a stupid amount of windows player music (i am in my element thanks for the thread!!)

Using Windows xp you can use the windows Media player to copy the tracks of your choice into the media library and then onto the blank cd. To do this follow the following instructions:

  1. Click your start button go to all programs and click on the windows media player.
  2. Place the cd of your choice into the cd drive and select the cd from the drop down menu on the top right hand corner of media player.
  3. Tick the track or tracks of your choice and select copy to media library which is also on the top of the media player (labelled copy music)
  4. Change yor cd's and copy all the tracks you wish from your cd using the same method.
  5. When all your tracks are copied then place a blank recordable cd in the cd rewrite drive and select copy to cd from the left hand menu in media player. This will then burn onto your blank cd.

From here everyone can now laugh at you singing along whilst in the car

I've got a dilemma a bit like Dixie's, and I know there are mumsnetters out there who can help....please

I want to download music off the internet, just various tracks that I can then make a compilation of which I can then play in car/cd system etc.

Problem is have become a bit confused re: MP3 and Wav formats, and not sure where to turn next...
Any advice??????
