i am going to a friends wedding in a few weeks. I have known her a few years but she isn't one of my closest friends and i have only met her husband to be once.

They are going travelling and therefore want money instead of presents.

question is, how much is a reasonable amount?

There's usually a 'gift table' at wedding receptions. If not then give it to the Best Man or Chief Bridesmaid. Just pop the cash in a pretty wedding themed card.

i wouldnt do that cos the wedding will be such a busy day they might put it down somewhere and lose it.

write a cheque and pop it in a card and send it before the wedding

what the tradition where you are? round here all gifts are given 2 weeks before the wedding
