Beautiful photo album alternative. If they don't use it for wedding pix it will come in handy for the baby.

...or photo frame?

It's the thought that counts. Milk Tray?

Kayleigh · 03/08/2005 13:06

They can save the champagne to wet the babys head

nailpolish · 03/08/2005 13:09

what about babysitting vouchers?!

Gillian76 · 03/08/2005 13:10

I'm with you on the champagne, oliveoil. Hate it! No other useful suggestions, though

csa · 03/08/2005 13:10

how about this for their new garden?

Marks and SPencer used to do a weddingy range. Not looked for a while though.

BibiTwo · 03/08/2005 13:18

I agree that a lovely photo album would be a nice gift. They can decide what to use it for and it's not something that they won't use, who doesn't have photo albums?

bundle · 03/08/2005 13:20

there are some lovely climbing roses around at the moment, got a lovely peachy pinky creamy one last weekend. or a funky plant in a pot like angelica gigas

Easy · 03/08/2005 13:21

I will hapily accept and dispose of any unwanted bottles of champagne. There is nothing nicer than a good, chilled champagne, sipped on a summer afternoon.

Can't stand german white wines tho'

bundle · 03/08/2005 13:21

saw some photo albums the other day which had a picture of who the gift was for on the front of them. can't remember where tho (hopeless)

I love an orchid in a pot, simple, classy, can't kill them too badly either, come in neutral colours, so will go with her scheme inside too!

What's her name? - maybe you could surf on a plant website and see if theres a rose/plant named after her?
they'll prob get shit loads of photo albums for their wedding.
and bubbly - how bout getting 2 nice crystal champers goblets?

TracyK · 03/08/2005 14:25

if u go for bubbly - just pick one off your list - all good - i'm sure they go for 'good' names and if they dislike the actual taste - they can serve it to others! No point in trying to guess what they would prefer taste wise.
Or get a champagne bucket?

Janbo25 · 03/08/2005 15:20

look for suggestions on net

aloha · 03/08/2005 18:03

I would like - anything at all from the Nigella Lawson cookware range in that lovely blue, wine, champagne or a small account set up at Berry Brothers for the fun of choosing my own, plants - maybe a beautiful standard bay tree for outside the door or a wedding rose. Decent glassware - Berry Brothers do nice wine glasses but poss over your budget, anything from Emma Bridgewater, esp cookware (though this might not be to their taste), very, very good scented candle - ie Diptyche - not a cheap one, a book of poetry in hardback (my neighbour bought a fabulous anthology lately in a beautiful dustjacket), a lovely hardback cookery book, a lovely big serving platter in plain white, almost any home accessory from The White Company that is quite small, some Smythson stationery - ideally with their married initial on it, and um, can't think of anything else.

moondog · 03/08/2005 18:06

Hmmmmm,I'm still with the Eternal Beau sugarbowl meself.......

lilibet · 03/08/2005 18:08

You can now get wedding boxes - Marks do one and they are a nice box to put all your bits in from the wedding.

I think that Marks one is about £12 and I have seen one in a nice gift shop near us for £25

nailpolish · 03/08/2005 18:09

do you mean an empty box???

moondog · 03/08/2005 18:12

£25 for an empty box???
Good grief!
Doubtless you then put it into another one to give it to them.
Calls to mind those bonkers hob covers that Lakeland sell.
Where does it end, eh?????

lilibet · 03/08/2005 18:16

Iknow - but they are pretty!!

and the one in the gift shop was made out of wood with pretty pictures painted on

(sulks - well I Thought it was a nice idea - mumbles and slinks off muttering)
