Who am I?
Write name of famous person on post-it, stick it on the forehead of the person sitting next to you. You have to guess who you are.

Oh hate these! Sorry. Have been made to do- saying something memorable about self, human map of where you were born with one end of room as north and one south, choosing an animal, sitting in circle and throwing ball at people saying their name which I always forget. They are always uncomfortable and rubbish, IMO! Do you relly have to do one?

I used to get people to draw (pictionary style) their fave film, fave book, fave holiday destination that type of thing. I was not a particulary outgoing trainer and found that this was the only ice-breaker that worked for me as it did not fall flat and leave me feeling stupid!

This is good if you have enough people. Need at least 20 to make it really good, tho maybe worth trying with fewer?

Write on slips of paper the names of as many 'Mr and Mrs' couples as your party will make (10 couples for 20 people etc - don't worry if they aren't actually male/female in RL). The surnames of each couple all rhyme with 'mop'. So you have Mr. and Mrs Top, Plop, Hop, Stop, et cetera.

Everyone mills around the room shouting their name at the top of their voice... Mop, Mop, Mop, or Top, Top, Top rather than Mr or Mrs... and the objective is to find your spouse.

Hope that makes sense. It is a good noisy game for adults or/and children.

i used loads of ice breaker games for ann summers parties but not sure if they'll be suitable....

when everyone comes in get them to take off their shoes.

put them in a pile in the centre of the room - make everyone stand at the edges.

and everyone has to run for a shoe that is not their own and find the other person with that shoe. then talk to them about how stinky the feet must be of the person whose shoe your holding

This is quite a tricky one (well, I found it tricky). Will only work with a good number of people.

You get everyone to stand up and tell them to choose 2 other people in the room, but not tell them who they are. Then everyone has to move and position themselves in an equilateral triangle to the 2 people they've chosen!! Obviously everyone keeps moving so it's quite tricky, but possible to do!

I know - it blew my mind a bit, but was quite a good exercise for getting everyone up and giggling (at how hard it was..!)

Is it for children?

Good for larger groups: you shout out different numbers and the players have to get them into that sized groups. Great fun as people "steal" other players etc.

Human noughts and crosses - works well a boys v. girls. Divide players into two teams. Give each member a number. Arrang 6 chairs like a 0s and xs grid (or use chalk or string on groupnd) Shout out three numbers, and those members of each team have to get into a line on the chairs (they are only allowed to use one of the chairs nearest their "side") IME the boys nearly always win... why is that?!

This was played at a party I was at recently:-

Give everyone a piece of paper and have them draw a grid with nine squares on it, then randomly choose numbers between 1 and 30 and write them on the grid. Also on the paper they should write the name of their favourite animal and a funny phrase they say to their DH/DW/DP before going to bed or just around the house generally. The papers are all muddled up and then passed out again (everyone should get a different paper back). Then the person in charge starts to call out numbers (like bingo) between 1 and 30, randomly. If your number is called you cross it off on your sheet and then make the noise or action of the animal written on the sheet. When you have crossed off all the numbers ('full house') you call out the phrase written on the paper.

I had a kangaroo and thought I was going to wet myself laughing every time I had to stand up and jump up and down.

i went to one where you did the passing a balloon from your knees to person nexxt to you knees without touching ballon - the twist was each time you did it successfully you had to eat a long marshmellow puff kids sweet thing. as the game goes on and people get out for dropping balloon, the instances of eating marshmellow become more frequent - they not so easy toswallow when you have the whole thing in your gob at once - multiply that by three and you can imagine how hard they were to eat especially with beer flowing and everyone laughing

60 second lie:
Pair everyone up and tell them they're going to have to tell the other person about themselves for a minute, sounds really dull, THEN tell them that everything they say must be a lie. get them to share back the other 'person' with the room.

Everyone has to line up across the room in order of where their birthday falls during the year, only it must be done in complete silence - no talking or whispering at all. When everyone is happy with the line they then call out their birthdays along the line and see whether they come up in order. I've done it with kids and been an adult doing it, and dp has done it with his colleagues. It always works, and is a great 2 minute after lunch pull-everyone-back-together energy sparker!
