Can anyone help with posting Big items on ebay???

Hi i know this probably sounds silly but i have put a moses basket on ebay and i was wondering what is the best way to get it posted? Do you phone parcel force or something and get them to pick it up from your house or do i have to take it to the post office?

Which is the best way to post it and who are the best people for this i.e parcel force 24 etc etc.

You can get a book from the post office called 'mail made easy' and 'pricing made easy'.
They'll tell you maximum weights and sizes for parcels.
I've posted golf clubs and a steering wheel from my local post office. Find a nice big sturdy box and tape it up well it should be no problem.
I don't know about parcel force etc so i will be watching this thread with interest.

Thanks forgetmenot, i have a few big things like pushchair travel system, car seat, all sorts like that but i don't put them on because i don't know how to send them so i will get a leaflet like you said and also watch to see if anyone else can help.

I sold all my big stuff (even some wardrobes !) through e-bay but said it had to be by collection - ie. postage not available. That seems what most people do with larger items.

I had my buyers pay by PayPal and then I gave them my full address once they'd paid.

Yes I thought about that too scatterbrain, it can limit the amount of bids you receive though.

big items can go through the post office as standard parcels or small heavy items the same.

for very big items or big heavy items send them via parcelforce 48 or 24, although this is a fairly expensive way to do it, but most ebayers know the costs involvved and are prepared to pay, so long as say the parcel is costing you £12 to send you don't charge something ridiculous like £20.
dhl parcels2go is cheaper at £8.99 plus vat for any parcel up to 25kg, the only downside with this one is you have to wait in all day for collection, whereas with parcelforce you can put it in your car and take it down to the depot.
i would also list items with collection aform home as well.
