Have been a member of the AA for years and pay by direct debit without giving it a lot of thought. However our finances have changed a bit so thought I'd shop around for a better deal as it seemed rather expensive.
RAC is £60/year cheaper for the 2 of us for same cover.
Anyone any experience of any other companies at all?

RAC has always served me well. Also we buy our cover with Tesco Clubcard points so don't actually have to shell out cash for it!

Thanks Twolittlemonkeys!

Anyone else?

used to be with green flag but changed to RAC, they have come to the rescue on a number of occasions, always had excellent service even when car needed to be brought home on lorry.

AutoAid has breakdown insurance but it works slightly differently than RAC/AA etc.

It's much cheaper though - around £34 for a married couple.

I found out about it on this site.

I use Autoaid, and have claimed with no problems. Very quick actually, quicker than the RAC, to get help.

we use gem
not the cheapest but covers motorbikes too

Thanks for that, especially the AutoAid recommendation. Had never heard of them but looks really good. Am going to cancel AA and give them a try.
Many thanks
