i had one when i was 17 , never took any lessons. i now at the grand old age of 34 want to give it a go.
theres no sign of the old provisional, probably got chucked out. would it have expired anyway? do i now need to pay for a new one (£50!) because i have the form to fill in here and i cant see any option for lost provisional it seems to be lost licence or brand new provisional ( i think)

bit confused, can anyone help please ?
i need to do this as part of the new me and stop letting partner boss me around, keeping it quiet for now so need mumsnetters advice

I have no idea whether the old one will have expired or not, but I think the best thing would be to phone the DVLA and ask them! If you give them your name and date of birth, plus maybe the address you were in at the time, they should be able to tell you if the old one is still valid, and what to put on the form to get a new one for the least money.

Or you might be able to email the DVLA if you don't want to speak on the phone.

It will have expired, 10 years on a provisional as I remember.

Yeah just go for a new one. Tis easy, even I managed it and I have a pathological hatred of forms...

Remember though they need to make DVLA forms simples so the well ard blokes in transit vans can complete them

Oh and I am 33 and taking my 4th driving test next month, I reckon I will ace it!

If I can, anybody can! (I was a fucking wreck at first)
