Has anyone else noticed the apparent "let men be men" campaign going on in lots of adverts just now?
McCoys- "man crisps", guy removed from pub and crisps for apparently putting soppy song on juke box
Yorkie bar- "Not for girls"
Those beer adverts where men and their "mates" stick together
Snickers- "get some nuts!" latest radio ad I heard today wher man gets a lambasting for looking at instructions when trying to put together kitchen furniture
Is this the Return Of The Lads, to trounce out all the "new men"? Is it a new kind of men-inism? I seem to be noticing more and more of it. It doesn't bother me, tbh. I quite like the idea that men and women are different, although I'm not sure that the stereotypes are very helpful (although sometimes they are funny!)
Does anyone have any views on this? I'm inclined to think it is harmless and funny, but I don't tend to have strong views about things like this, so wondering what other people felt about it!
