Eastenders - the Vicky situation

I wondered what everyone's thoughts were on this whole thing.

I was a teen Mum, and everyone (including my doctor) made it very clear that they thought I should have an abortion. Aged 16 (I was 17) everyone thinks they know best (IME) and everyone thinks a baby will ruin your life. DO you really think anyone would be encouraging a 16 year old to have a baby against her will? That's certainly not my experience. What does anyone else think?

I think the problem with Sharon on this one is that Sharon had an abortion which, after complication, left her infertile. So I guess it is her situation that is making it different in this situation.

I haven't been through this experience so have no real inside knowledge.

I also feel that it is Sharon that wants this baby and that is blinkering her judgement of what Vicki wants.

I had a termination at 17 after I became pregnant accidentally with a man I'd known for 4 weeks. It was an incredibly hard decision and one I still feel guilty about years on. Personally I don't think this subject is being handled at all well on Eastenders. I think that the actress who plays Vicki is terribly wooden anyway (what IS that accent?!) and the script just feels wrong to me.

I don't understand why they are using this story line at all. They've flogged the "teen mum" thing to death, & Michelle had 2 "accidental' pregnancies & an abortion.. It's hardly ground-breaking stuff. Getting a bit boring again.
