to paraphrase Elio:
tramezzino and lasagna: very bad very bad

BananaGio · 16/06/2010 22:02

yes I love that as well Franca. mmm yes like tramezzini here.
still have raging sore throat although fever gone. Cant eat anything solid so today have eaten yoghurts, liuk lollies and half a tub of haagen dazs pralines and cream. Which is my little rebellion against 3 days of sodding brodo!

Francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2010 22:05

Oh poor Gio. Coraggio. As soon as your throat recovers you can look forward to a good lasagna sandwich

GIo well done on the comfort eating it really does help to get you better ...Hope you on the mend soon for sure you slept without your vest ......
I have a dry throat and a bit achey but thats due to caldo , freddo , sweating, rain ( wet feet) and humidity its been terrible these last few days.
Done last festa of the season now with 2 dds and I am shattered.......

Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 20:03

How many feste did you have this month rosa? It's knackering, I agree

OP posts:
Sputnik · 17/06/2010 20:41

Well done for surviving that Rosa!

Yesterday we went to perhaps the worst festa ever, which is really saying something. It was at DD's school after hours with a couple of animators whose idea of fun was giving the kids worksheets to connect different words which considering half of them speak limited Italian went down really badly; a "treasure hunt" that consisted of collecting objects from parents (so good they did it twice), then a race where they had to share ski type things in 3s, they were mostly too uncoordinated to manage that.

The best part was the obligatory "movimento sexy" dance followed by a boys versus girls dance which culminated by a load of pelvic thrusting on the boy's part. Pretty scary!

Two hours this lasted.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 21:07

Oh wow, how awful.
Can I just say that I find this ubiquitous habit to put Movimento sexy at children's parties very out of place?

But I feel like moralizing tonight, I'm being stubborn on a bikini thread

OP posts:
Sputnik · 17/06/2010 21:22

The movimento sexy was nothing to the mass of 6 year old boys pelvic thrusting, I tell you. It was really quite disturbing

Sputnik · 17/06/2010 21:25

Where is this bikni thread? Do you need back-up?

Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 21:25

Where do they learn these things? Sometimes ds come back from school having learnt the most things.

All my efforts to shelter them from pop culture are vain

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 21:26

There is a bikini and little girls thread, but it's died down. Thank you my dear

OP posts:
Sputnik · 17/06/2010 21:34

Well in this case the "animator" taught them. He was about 19 with his trousers down around his bottom [cat's arse emoticon].

Yes DD started singing "I like to move it move it, I like to shake it shake it, I like to sexy sexy". The funniest bit is DS trying to copy her.

Sputnik · 17/06/2010 21:37

Actually what's even funnier is both of them singing "Scuse me while I light my spliff (spliff!)", which is totally my fault for listening to Bob Marley in the car, DD loves Bob Marley.

MN jury would probably not be amused.

Francagoestohollywood · 17/06/2010 21:50

at "scuse me while I light my spliff"

Much more morally acceptable than movimento bloody sexy

Hi girls, v quick flying post to say I am thinking of you- just never getting to the computer to type or catch up with the thread. Hope it will happen eventually.

V amused at Sput's children's singing. Was wondering yesterday on the influence of my singing on DS's future political views. Have downloaded entire Gufi collection from iTunes and DS is currently being serenaded to sleep with anarchic and partigiani songs. Which is possibly an improvement on usual prostitute-related repertory (Bocca di Rosa, Via del Campo, House of the Rising Sun...Think about it...). Or maybe not.

Off to shower before DH disappears to work, hope to make it back in the not-too-distant future

Rosa · 18/06/2010 14:17

LOL at the spliff song but I am not sure I would have been so keen on the movimento sexy there are so many others out there .La Maccarena , ballo del qua qua, etc etc . And as for trousers round bum I probably would have told him to go buy a belt !
If only the animators used brains ans researched and did team games with balloons ,balls even the old faithful tug of war.
Ok help me solve a mystery .... On Tues and Wed I was out for merenda time yesterday we went to a party but today Mrosa fell asleep at lunch time and ate nothing so she woke early and I went to get her a yoghurt and she had a hissy fit .. Picking her up to ask her to show me what she wanted she pointed very clearly to the shelf in the door ( up high) where the kinder fette al latte are....
Ok so she ate one of them AND a yoghurt but one wonders how she has realised this crapwonderful healthy merenda exists.. DD has one in a blue moon usually at weekends if we don't go out for gelato !
me thinks dh has some explaining to do ...DD can't reach that high up even if she moved a chair which she won't do !

Rosa · 18/06/2010 14:18

Sorry how rude of me ...Hi Sui ......

Francagoestohollywood · 18/06/2010 14:24

Hello SG, glad to hear things are going well. at ds's music tastes. Some friends of mine used to cuddle their baby dd to sleep singing La Locomotiva di guccini

Rosa, eh kinder fette al latte... how could anyone resist them? Do you remember how Brangelina disliked kinder? They are my fav merendine !!!

giveitago · 18/06/2010 17:33

Wow Rosa thanks for the book recommendations - off to look at them on amazon right now.

Anyone off anywhere nice for summer. How do you plan to entertain dcs?

Sputnik · 18/06/2010 21:08

Well precisely Rosa, what's wrong with musical statues, tail on donkey etc?
Hi SG, nice to see you and glad things are going well.

Francagoestohollywood · 21/06/2010 09:50

Hello, this has been the wettest weekend in many months... and so cold! We had to call off ds's birthday party.

Such a shame, as all his friends are going to leave for the holidays in the next few days...

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 21/06/2010 09:52

Giveitago, as to how to entertain the kids on holidays...

we tend to go on holiday with friends with children, so that the children play with each other, which is brilliant.

Rain ....it has been terrible. I got an sms cancelling a party for Sunday ..Thing is we had never been invited in the first place !!!! ( as far as I know). I had to hunt out dd tuta pantalone and long sleeved t shirt for school FGS. I just hope that the flat at the beach has a heating button on the A/C machine !!!!!!!!!!

Sputnik · 21/06/2010 13:24

Oh what a shame for your DS Franca. Not been that much rain but it is on the cool side here. I actually spotted a baby in a woolly hat this morning!

Francagoestohollywood · 21/06/2010 13:27

I read that there was sever weather in Veneto rosa!

Saturday we went to my cousin's wedding and it rained hugely from 5.30 (just when the bride and groom were marching out of the church) to midnight (and our car got impantanata in the mud, dh's vestito was covered in it!)

Yesterday there were 14 degrees at the inlaws (where ds's party was supposed to take place)
