Hello everyone !

Sorry I have been awol for so long. You know where I've been No, seriously, it's not like I have betrayed you, it's just that somehow the whole twi-sluts thing has sucked so much of my energy and time I almost forgot there were other parts of MN; hell, I have kind of forgotten there was a life, out there!

So how is everyone? Can anyone recap the last couple of months? gossip, feuds, babies, flounces, new memebers?

Nothing new here. I am still in Geneva, still feeling very ambivalent about it, doing bits of unpaid work which is at times more frustrating than it's worth, looking forward to the summer.

do we comment the pathetic performance of the Azzurri last night?

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 12:04

Did they play so badly? It wasn't my impression. And it is also known that Italy never wins when Berlusconi is al governo

Not much gossip here on LI:

Rosa has bought a new flat, and will soon start renovation. And master sputnik is making progress. Giveitago has an evil mil.

Pippi and Mcnutly have disappeared.

When are you coming to italy?

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 12:06

Ah, and Gio has joined a swimming pool!
And Bucharest is working (but watching the footie)

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 15/06/2010 12:09

because you watched it on Raiuno with the propaganda commentary "we are playing well, the team is solid [FFS WE ARE LOSING 1-0 AGAINST FUCKING PARAGUAY!]" followed by interview with some faccia di culo sottosegretario allo sport che polemizzava con Ringhio Gattuso.

At that stage I switched back to BBC, where they were all like "Italy are shit"

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 12:13

My husband watched it, and he is not prone to being brainwashed by raiuno and wasn't that displeased.

And I'm not surprised by the bbc either.

OP posts:
TheMysticMasseuse · 15/06/2010 12:15

I don't know. It's true that Italy always start slowly and never play well in an esthetically pleasing way, but overall i thought it was pretty pathetic...

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 12:21

Boh! Overall I don't find football an esthetically pleasing sport, I think it's also boring as hell.

And remember that Berlusconi porta sfiga.

Oh only asked as sil (at uni doing law for the last 20 years) has changed to a mini one in childcare and she's being the biggest pain the world. Think she as chucked off the law thingy. But I've never heard of a mini degree is childcare. Does it exist?

She's now an expert on how to raise ds and I'm challenged on every single bloody thing. About time she had one of her own.

Oh yeah - if I had my time again I'd have not done bloody economics that's for sure.

I'm in Italy for 15 whole day. Yep I changed our ticket - tbh - money (we don't have) aside - 5 extra days is nothing compared to the hell of not doing it. So just pack 3 books, my ipod and charger and lots of suncream. And a friend of mine will be out there at the same time so I'll just get us all to hook up.

My dm not happy as because it's eating into her time - this has happened before and it does have something to do with dh's family being hugely jealous for absolutely nothing.

But hey ho - don't care am job hunting.

Cannot stand this football. Like last time, the English team is as ugly as ever. So Italy drew - I let dh get on with watching it as I do not understand football at all.

No idea what is happening with football as I that background noise is torture and I don't understand the game at the best of times.

Happy birthday to birthday kids.

Summer in Italy is fab - enjoy.

Hi MM!
DS is 3 today DH and ILs away so not celebrating properly til sunday. I wanted to take him to the animal farm but it was showery this morning, typical. DD convinced me she wasn't well so got off school, I think she was faking it but at least she kept DS company, we spent most of the morning at a bar with a mini ball room thingy and some rides, after a visit to the toy shop, so they are happy.
Also some more minor progress, I asked DS what he wanted and he said "want yogurt", so happy with that, he is saying 2 word phrases more often now.

Sputnik · 15/06/2010 12:58

Can't comment on the footie, but where we live there are lots of flats close together. It's surprisingly quiet most of the time, and no background noise from roads or anything, but last night a huge groan rose up, I guessed Italy had probably let a goal in.

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 12:59

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MASTER SPUTNIK!!! (another gemini! I love gemini!)

Giveitago, I'm not sure I'm that up to date with this lauree brevi. I'm pretty sure you need a specialization if you are working in nursery for the under 3, and I think a degree in scienze dell'educazione to teach at a scuola materna. But I'm not 100% sure.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 15/06/2010 13:12

Oh is he a gemini? Maybe that explains his Jeckyl/Hyde personality!

Rosa · 15/06/2010 13:17

Happy Birthday to Master Sputnik and well done on the double words...things can only get better.
I am cold FGS ......Took dd1 to have hair cut this am thenon to asilo. Home and changed into house sloppy t shirt it has since been raining and windy and I need to get the trakky bottoms out !!!Oh I am so British complaining about the weather
Giveitago ..I have 5 books for a month maybe I am being a bit enthusiastic ....The Nintendo Ds seems to have vanished and my fake I pod thing I haven't even used apart from when I was in hosp with minirosa !
SO you changed your flights for 5 days more seems a bit daft as thats not that muchlonger but if it makes your MIl happier then maybe she will stay off you back a bit more. Is your SIl doing laurea in childcare for materne or asili as they need to be well qualified .

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 13:23

It's cold (ish) here too, but that's ok, it means the flat is still habitable

Yes, I think he should be a gemini. I find gemini are fantastic to get along with.

Hi MM, good to have you back, people are deserting us in droves!
Happy birthday Master Sput and am so glad re speech. Giveitago hope its not too painful with MIL!
Am ill. In a very Italian way. Temp of 38.5, raging sore throat and swollen glands. Everyone else touch wood fine so guess what the cause was. Aria from the fan. As much as it pains me to admit it maybe dp is right?? I was sitting with it focused directly on me when it was so hot. Boh? Could it be? Is it an Italian myth? Or do I need to finally concede the higher ground to DP after 13 years of fans/ac in the summer arguments?? Please no!! Break it to me gently girls if I do
DS went on a trip in the police buses today to see the police horses and dogs, very excited!
Re World Cup am just waiting, only one game so far - non si sa mai. Am England at the moment with Italy as my back up team

giveitago · 15/06/2010 16:52

Happy birthday 3yearold sputnick - and great your dd threw a sickie.

5 books for a month sounds nice. Anyone reading anything good at the moment? I adore book recommendations. I must seem so antisocial - ipod on and nose in a book or puzzle. But nothing else to do.

Nah - mil won't ever get off my back but this stops dh holding it against me if she slips on a banana skin. LOL

sil not going to be a teacher. She works two hours a day in a childcare setting - I think it's an after schools club (homework club?). Nah- she won't finish this either - she's just snared a new man so she'll give everything up once she's moved in with him.

Right off to re-hang the curtains and make pasta with tomato sauce for the boys. Joy. Then, if I have a moment I want to go for a walk to try and work off some of my belly.

Wobbling off now - have a great evening.

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 20:43

Lol lol lol Gio. Sorry to lolling while you are feeling crappola btw

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 20:47

Ah gio, how exciting a police bus! Did ds go with the materna?

Dd's materna took the 5 yrs old to meet the vigili urbani and they were given a patentino for driving their bicycle according to the segnali stradali.
A week later a vigilessa visited them at school and they walked in the nearby area and gave fake multe to the cars.

Dd now notices all the illegally parked cars! (proud)

OP posts:
Sputnik · 15/06/2010 20:53

What great trips, love the idea of fake multe! My DD would love that so much. Actually the parents of a girl in DD's class are both vigili, perhaps they could organise something.

Gio hope you recover quickly, wear a vest next time wink

Sputnik · 15/06/2010 20:54

oop , obviously

Francagoestohollywood · 15/06/2010 21:14

Or what my mother calls a "body", how does it translate in english? She also wears a pancera, to keep her extra warm, even in the summer

Francagoestohollywood · 16/06/2010 21:21

, unbelievable! Awwww I love this kind of articles from the Guardian. I miss the G2 so much.

Have you read the comments below the article? I'm loving:

'only a generous person can make a decent sandwich'. True that.

(btw, tramezzini in torino are delicious and also in Treviso and Venice. I'm told they are succulent in rome too. In milan they are disappointing)
