Oh povero ds. Boh, there might be bugs still doing the rounds, who knows. Dd has started coughing again

It's a glorious day here, blue sky, sunshine and cool breeze.

Rosa · 31/05/2010 12:45

There are still bugs doing the rounds. I have kept dd at home as she had a bad night a nightmare round 10 ish and then she kept waking up - even in our bed .
DH today had 2 small cysts taken off bit like large moles they were not seen as dangerous but 2 x ticket and 2 x medicazione + histology exam ...Eu100 !!!!! Amazing all for 10 mins work ...
Its fresh here today as well in fact wind is really getting up !

BananaGio · 31/05/2010 13:09

poor dd Rosa. DS is going through a nightmare stage- keeps dreaming about monsters bless! I had analisi del sangue the other day to shut dp up to do a check up. €70!!

Rosa · 31/05/2010 13:22

Its the first one dd has had she said round 10 ish that she was calling me and I diddn't come - Then dh came home round 11.30 and she woke again. He went and gave her a cuddle but 30 mins later she was in with us and thats a first she normally goes back to bed so at 4 am dh went into her bed but I couldn't shift her over so I have a cricked neck !!!! Oh well she is now snoring like a train .......

BananaGio · 31/05/2010 13:26

bless her.Nightmares are horrible for adults so must be terrifying for little ones who can't rationalise it

Sputnik · 31/05/2010 13:29

Yes DD was off school for 2 days last week too. Now I think DS has her cold, he was up twice last night. Plus he has been having epic nosebleeds, poor guy.

Bucharest · 31/05/2010 13:35

Hello girls- hope you are all well.....(and not down manholes with rats in your pants)

Just back from A after first round of kids' exams. Tomorrow full day from 9am to 7pm...Examiner lady v nice but v English- she entertained the Italian teachers and cemented our reputation as eccentrics by wearing a bloody awful ill-fitting green suit and carrying a hooooooooge flask of tea with her.

Franca- I still cry now when watching the dvd of nursery recita- even the years when dd isn't leaving. We are going on Saturday for her friends' recita/diploma and I shall no doubt cry again.

I got roped in to going on the gita on Friday to a very nice farmy thing, was the only one with a camera so became official photographer as well...how different from England where it wouldn't have been allowed unless I'd been CRB'd. (which I have, actually )

Francagoestohollywood · 31/05/2010 19:35

Oh no rosa, poor dd!

Bucharest, lol at becoming the official photographer of the class and being allowed to do so!

Well, yes, I always cry at school recite... you should have seen me when ds had the saggio di coro, when they sang "Diamante"... I cried real tears.... sob sob

With the pic taking I tend to have the video camera as well - The Uk would be horrified about it all. Silly law IMO. I remember being told to switch off my cell phone at the swimming pool once. The fact that it diddn't have a camera in it any way was totally silly but they guy was really stroppy about it. Also my sister at a ballet recital for her daughter was on call. She is a gp they theatre guy was so rude about it and she only had her bag with her ( and prescription pad . ) SHe then had to show her driving licence as well to prove it was her despite the dance teacher and all the mums saying erm a) she is a doc and b) we don't mind if she has her phone ( or if she takes any pics!)He still to this day frowns at her .....
Have heard that bronchitis is doing teh rounds here - not surprised with the wind that is blowing , its sunny but in teh shade is cool ...spring maybe ?????

BananaGio · 01/06/2010 13:37

totally agree - absolutely ridiculous law. Was great just being able to film and photograph ds and all his classmates without being questioned as to my motives! My sister is a primary school teacher and she thinks is madness as well.
Just finished season 3 of the Wire. I was going to borrow season 4 from Sput, and have a meet up finally but my now full blown addiction meant couldnt wait so play.com got my order late last night. Will have to meet up to discuss the Wire instead Sput. I am obsessed!

Francagoestohollywood · 01/06/2010 13:59

Yes, it's very OTT in the UK. at your mobile stories Rosa!
Maybe this is spring then. We have blue skies, sunshine and a cool breeze. Lovely. I'm already dreading it getting any hotter, as our flat rapidly turns into an oven.

Gio, lol lol lol at your the wire addiction. ("told you so" ).

Perhaps we should have a LI meet up, with round tables on the wire (and colpi d'aria, of course)

I will one day get round to watching it ....
We were going to the mainland today en famille. The car wouldn't change gear so we had to give up. Of course when dds and I got out of the car and went in the thunderstom home the car then behaved itself. As it has done it in the past Dh left it at the mechanic anyway. SO bit of a pain as we had planned to get the decsisions made for piastrelle etc.
Anybody got any good polpettine ideas? Minirosa loves the ones from the butchers but I thought I could make them with more veges and parmigiano in as we are still on he not drinking milk. I make good meatballs but I need a more 'delicate' taste.

Francagoestohollywood · 03/06/2010 12:54

Hello! I hope you all had a nice festa della repubblica yesterday.
We went to the inlaws and the children ate tons of cherries from the trees, I'm impressed that they didn't have maldipancia!

Polpette, I usually put a tiny bit of onion, bit of parsley, not much parmesan, meat and mollica...

Is she not drinking milk? Will she eat slices of parmigiano? or cream cheese on toast?

OP posts:
Rosa · 03/06/2010 12:59

Cherries off trees how nice .
No milk - she will not eat cheese alone but she will eat cream cheese and of all things she eats 'toast cheese'. I give her ricotta in soup most days but she is getting bored of that now. Then when I breadcrumb things i put parmigiano in it. Also she won't eat pasta FGS but she will eat gnocchi and potatoes ( of course dd1 won't eat potatoes!)
Riso I don't do that often but am hoping that this summer they will both eat it !

Francagoestohollywood · 03/06/2010 13:15

Have you tried her on mozzarella? ( I suggest bocconcini di bufala vallelata...)

OP posts:
Rosa · 03/06/2010 16:15

she will only eat bocconcini but they have to be little ones ...I can't cut them in half !!!!!!!!!!!! Drives me mad

Francagoestohollywood · 03/06/2010 20:12

!

Dd at minirosa's age had a passion for M&S mozzarella di bufala. She costed me £££

Oh dear. I have a sneaky suspect that ds has worms

OP posts:
Sputnik · 03/06/2010 21:08

Hey girls, I finally scored some Italian peaches today! Rock hard though so not sure when we'll actually eat them.
Bugger about your car Rosa.

Sputnik · 03/06/2010 21:08

Franca, what's your next move re worms then?

Francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2010 11:17

I bought some Italian peaches today too . From the gioielliere, alias the greengrocer on the corner.

No idea, sput. This morning I'm more optimistic and have decided he just had a bit of "irritazione" due to sweat etc. (he started to complain about itching yesterday night at bedtime, but he fell asleep immediately, therefore the itching might have stopped after I gave him some fissan).

If he complains again tonight I'll have to inspect the situation, I suppose

OP posts:
Rosa · 04/06/2010 13:35

Franca - hope not as they are a nightmare to get rid of and apparently keep coming back as well. Plus you have to dose the whole family. They are easily picked up as well and it is not a case of hygiene either.
Car sorted Audi d0n't know what it was as when they stuck it to teh computer it said all is ok.Plus it behaved for the mechanic !!!
Minirosa won't sleep ....Arrrrggggghhhhh

Francagoestohollywood · 04/06/2010 14:26

I know. I remember getting them as a child and having to take an awful sciroppo that made me queasy for days.
I remember my mother washing everything at 90 degrees.

I hope it was just an irritazione!

Hope minirosa has fallen asleep in the meantime!

OP posts:
BananaGio · 04/06/2010 19:12

hope worms dont materialise Franca! Did minirosa sleep in the end? Got some lovely albicocche from fruit and veg man today and cherries- love summer fruit. Was soooo bored with apples and pears.
Had my lovely sister here today for a flying visit-stopped off in Rome on a weeks cruise. Was lovely to see her but was only for a day.

Francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2010 09:03

It's hard to see off relatives after such a short time spent together! I hope your sis has a great time on her cruise.

Yesterday night the children were invited at my aunt's... ds complained again of an itchy ... at bedtime. So I need to investigate now . Have already told my aunt to wash her bedlinen. Che palle!!!!

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2010 09:04

Btw, worms apart, me and dh went to see L'uomo che verra'. Incredibly sad, of course, but a magnificent movie
