Franca I was thinking about that driving back from Jesolo today seeing some road sellers offering cherries.... All teh cherries you picked fresh and ate off the trees ? It might add up.
We had a lovely day out and the dds had a ball. Minrosa will be fun when we are at the beach full time as she loved the sea.
She is starting to be a monkey again about sleeping. She will initally fall asleep on her own but when she wakes its a nightmare. It is usally about 40 mins after she has dropped off- screaming fits and you have to stay in with her and almost cuddle her until she drops off again ....Needless to day dh just does the shhhh bit so it tends to get worse .....
Cherries here are still Eu5.oo a kilo is that a bit caro or is it me being a scrouge ?

Francagoestohollywood · 05/06/2010 20:34

On a close inspection, he seems fine worm wise. I stuck (with some difficulty) some cello tape on his knickers, I'll report tomorrow.

I've checked on the esselunga website and cherries appear to be 7 euros and a bit per kg. So, 5 euros, is not too bad!

Oh dear, poor minirosa. And poor you. Ds used to fall asleep holding mine or dh's hand until he was at least 2.5... I still remember it as a nightmare, you know, when you are there thinking of all the thing you'd like to do instead (or have to...)

Poor ds how very uncomfortable ...DOn't think I have ever heard that before. Anyway hope its not !
Warm here again wish I was at the beach !

Francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2010 11:54

No sign of warms, boh!

It was very hot yesterday, but today it's overcast and a bit cooler. Dd has gone in gita to a farm, where they'll also make bread.

When are you off to the beach, rosa?

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/06/2010 12:01

Last weekend in June we are off. DH was thinking about Gradaland today but the forecast was not good so I think we will be giving it a miss for this year..Mind you teh posters for an aqua park are popping up here so I think dd will be just as happy there!
Its quite humid here now but we are not at the really bad yet !
I bought Apricots yesterday from Italy and they are yummy !

Francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2010 12:49

Gardaland, wouldn't it be less busy in October, when it's still quite mild?
I think the dc would love going to gardaland. Apparently you can get tickets with punti dell'esselunga!

Rosa, my greengrocer is selling cherries at 9 euros/kg !

Whenb are you off to the uk then?

OP posts:
Rosa · 07/06/2010 18:38

Uk at the end of July....I have yet to book teh return flights !
In Jesolo cherries were Eu7.50 then in the Coop they were 8,50.
The EU5 ones I discovered were small ones where as the big juicy ones are still high.
Gardaland in Oct haddn't thought of that. Last time we went we printed off a voucher from the Gardaland website and got discount entry . It is a good day out and perfect for your 2! If its 1.30 hrs by train for us it must be about the same for you - then there is a bus that picks you up from the station.

Francagoestohollywood · 07/06/2010 20:26

I agree, going by train sounds very wise, avoiding traffic etc. That autostrada is very odiosa.

BananaGio · 08/06/2010 12:45

phew it's hot in Rome now. What's the north like? Nice breeze luckily but I have just got back from picking up ds and am sweating like a very unattractive pig! DS is in his sandals which means I get to obsess over his little fat sausage toes all day -am obsessed with his feet! Noted today he is the only child in his class not in full length trousers

Francagoestohollywood · 08/06/2010 13:32

Still bearable (and overcast) here in Milan.

Everyone is wearing shorts here, both at ds's primary and dd's materna!
I didn't know those romani were so formal

OP posts:
Rosa · 09/06/2010 20:33

Warm here as well ..Went with dd school to the Natural history museum today . Not bad but not a patch on the LOndon one !!!
Cherries coming down big way now EU4 a kilo for smaller ones and Eu5 for big ones ( and they are good ) thing is they don't make it home !!!!! ( There is a fontana right behind the fruit stalls.....)
Building might start in a few weeks,,,,,,we hope !

Francagoestohollywood · 10/06/2010 12:57

Ah, lets hope they start asap rosa.

Have done my back in this morning, carrying dd to the kitchen to have breakfast (it's a habit of hers... ). I know walk rigidly and somehow storta. Uffa.

Today we have another school fete. It's never ending, really.

OP posts:
Rosa · 10/06/2010 17:47

More cake making for the fete ????
We are exhausted think we have the bathroom sorted apart from I chose a radiator for the bathroom that was Eu700....We gave it a miss !

Francagoestohollywood · 10/06/2010 18:12

No, no cake making from me. I've worked in the school library twice a week in the last month, I think that allows me not to make cake

wow 700 euros for a radiator is interesting

OP posts:
BananaGio · 10/06/2010 18:48

so humid today!!!! got cherries for 2.99 a kilo hurrah! glad your bathroom sorted Rosa and at 700 for a radiator.
ds started swimming lessons yesterday, such a nice place, outdoor pool with a bar so us Mums sat and watched the kids with a drink perved over the young instructors while the kids swam....

BananaGio · 10/06/2010 18:49

that was meant to be struck out- how do you do that? followed instructions, didnt work....

Francagoestohollywood · 10/06/2010 20:44

I think you need to strike every single world, Gio. I saw your pics on fb, ds is bellissimo. I also wondered where that place is, it looks fab.

OP posts:
BananaGio · 10/06/2010 21:37

aha- will that try next time. Place is on the Lungotevere near the stadium Franca, sooo nice.
Am lurking on the Thatcher thread feeling my blood boil, was going to post but too tired so got a glass of wine and cig on balcony instead . Uffa it's still hot! So humid

Francagoestohollywood · 10/06/2010 21:43

A thatcher thread? Oh dear, I won't go near it, I don't have cigs with me tonight

Ah the lungotevere! Is it a private swimming pool? It looks very empty to be a comunale one. There are a few outdoor swimming pools here, but I've always thought they'd be very busy. I should check them out.
Actually a corso estivo di nuoto is a great idea.

Sputnik · 10/06/2010 21:44

God yes, I can't stand this heat. I want to run for the hills. Apparently it will rain and cool down next week.

Francagoestohollywood · 10/06/2010 21:48

I read that it's very hot in the centro/sud.
Still bearable here.

Tomorrow is ds's last day of school. Have signed him up for another 2 weeks of activities at a nearby school (all done in English).

OP posts:
Sputnik · 10/06/2010 22:00

DS finishes nursery next week, I am dreading the long summer tbh

BananaGio · 10/06/2010 22:27

me too Sput! It's private I think Franca but costs comparable to the public ones, 20 euros to join then 10 euros a lesson. I couldnt believe how quiet it was and actually asked someone why. Reason (wait for it)- the water is too cold in June..............
WTF?????????????????

Francagoestohollywood · 11/06/2010 10:54

Gio, lol! Mind you, I also thought mmmm water must be cold still .

Yes, 3 months are loooong. Mine are until the end of June (materna is working until the 30th with the regular teachers). We are going to salina in august, with friends. I need to plan the month of July...

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/06/2010 11:13

franca, its in your genes, you cant escape it! dp asked if was too cold - cue long lecture from me re summer holidays swimming off the north coast of Scotland as a kid blah blah - very Monty Python Four Yorkshireman...
