Oh don't get me started on footwear.
I saw a pair of lovely sandals in a posh boutique the other day, but apart from the fact that they are £££, they are also very flat (think posh greek style sandals, and as we have already agree we want to support greece, no?) which is not a good idea with all the probs I had last summer with my foot.
So, I'll have to stick to Birkenstock, I fear.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 11/05/2010 22:24

Yes can't do flat, can't do toe posts, can't be having with shoes that fly off your feet when you're chasing a small child disappearing into the distance.
So from that point of view I'm happy to still be in boots.
Off to bed anyway.

BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:31

I want it be sunny so I can wear my havaianas, not good with spring footwear - never know what to wear. And am useless with heels now. So it's Uggs to Converse to Havaianas for me. lol at Sput on the terrace, the other week I was on my balcony when it was warm in a vest top and had very strange looks from passers by

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:31

I can't believe it's thundering here! Again! 'Night

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:32

You sure they weren't staring at your boobs, gio, as Italians do ...

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:38

Franca - I think the days when men would stare at my boobs are long gone I fear. Now it's much likely they were thinking weirdo straniera, you'll get una febbre

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:41

Lol. Perhaps they were thinking you'll get a febbre and admiring your boobs...

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:42

Gosh, does this make me sound like a typical boob obsessed Italian? I hope not, I apologize

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:44

Franca not at all. Just think my boobs are past their pert best unfortunately.
So Nick Clegg is Deputy PM

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:45

Oh mine as well, thank goodness for oysho push ups.

Is he then? I'm trying to pretend it is not happening. William Hague is something as well. William Hague fgs!

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:51

And am SO cross I can only get Sky news here. They are sooo biased and can't bear Adam Boulton and Kay Burley

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:54

Lol I was complaining about Skynews on a depressed lefties threads a few days ago.

I've just summoned up the courage to watch cameron's speech.
I should go ahead, long day ahead tomorrow!

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:57

Rosa · 12/05/2010 10:39

Francagoestohollywood · 12/05/2010 11:10

It rained heavily again yesterday night here Rosa. It was so noisy it kept me awake until nearly 2 in the morning

Am parquet / tiled out BUT after everybody saying how hard it would be I found the bathroom ties in the first shop I went to - BUT I don't know the price as they were not like Castorama and such like where they were all listed! DH has yet to see them. Also think I have found the kitchen in the SME - well might need o tweak it a bit but the very nice chap did a preventivo for me .
SO a start has been made. DH had to do the school run in the rain but it wasn't the very bad stuff so he got off lightly.
You guys have been very quiet !!!

Francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2010 20:44

Oh Rosa, how exciting! Have they started knocking down walls?
What are the tiles like?
Have you got a link to the kitchen? >

After a depressing morning, we had a sunny (sort of) afternoon at last. Apparently we are in for bad weather until the 20th.

This morning I volunteered at the library in ds's school, I'm really enjoying it and the majority of the children are actually lovely!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 13/05/2010 21:09

Rosa, excited on your behalf for the tiles! Do you have any idea when the lavori will be finished?
I have been rushing around like a mad thing so no time to MN, got the train out of Rome today to go to the INPS office in the place we used to live to try and sort out a total mess: turns out that through various fuck ups, not all of which were mine, I paid my INPS for 2008 twice and 2009 not at all. Anyway got that sorted then wandered round town for an hour and a half before the next train. Have to say I felt a bit nostalgic for the provincial life doing that, bumping into people I know, the slower pace etc. Oh well, I'm quite enjoying Rome too in the end.
I also found a great denim skirt, which I have been looking for for ages but never found one exactly right, in the Benetton there.
Just need to resolve the footwear problem now. Found some possibles but they are £££.

Francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2010 21:12

Ah INPS< what a pain. But it looks like you had a lovely day nevertheless
What's the skirt like? I've been searching for the perfect denim skirt, but to no avail.
Actually, I'm not sure if it's the rainy weather, I've been progressively dissatisfied by my s/s wardrobe. It's boring.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 13/05/2010 21:28

Ok it is totally straight and sits exactly on the knee (I'm 1.67m) thereby just about hiding ugly knees but not frumpily long, I hope. Zip is middle front but, crucially, there is a flap type thing so the buttons are off at the side, thereby eliminating lumpiness at the front, which really annoys me. It is really flattering (ie makes me look thinner), so I had to buy it really.
Will check their site but don't hold out much hope of finding a link as it's crap.

Sputnik · 13/05/2010 21:39

OMG the Benetton website make me want to cry, frm a professional point of view. What crap:

"L' Augmented Reality, o AR, è la ?realtà aumentata? e interattiva, innovazione che amplifica l?esperienza della lettura in un mondo tra reale e virtuale.

Cerca il codice in bianco e nero nella pagina del catalogo e inquadralo con una webcam. Accederai a una nuova dimensione animata: l?immagine si dilaterà per diventare video e immagini in movimento, con il quale UCB racconta la nuova collezione Primavera/Estate 2010."

Er, no thanks, and I don't have your catalogue anyway, or a webcam on this computer. How about showing me some clothes, other than about 10 outfits?

Sorry, rant over.
Skirt is not there btw.

Francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2010 21:46

ROFL Sputnik. I wonder if the website has been created by Oliviero Toscani or suchlike .

What a load of sh!

OP posts:
Sputnik · 13/05/2010 21:57

Somebody from another planet that's for sure, and not in a good way. Anyway, I even downloaded their catalogue but it's not there either.
Off to bed, as I got about 5 hours sleep last night. Notte

Francagoestohollywood · 13/05/2010 22:04

notte sput

INPS - they are a complete nightmare . They decided that Dh owed them 28,000 and they kept on sending letters . Then it was 26,000 as it was a fine for not paying something - which DH had done . We still haven't got a letter saying its all ok now - our error or please ignore those threatening letters we sent.As apparently they don't do things like that but everytime we have to send the commercialista on an INPS mission it costs us more money !
KItchen it is Veneta cucine but the webiste makes my eyes go funny . Its not on the principal pages.
Bathroom tiles I like these www.marazzi.it/it/ceramica-e-gres/collezioni/soft?pid=120
This slide and the one before. Like the floor grey and the walls a just off white. The spots are pastel and I thought just a bit different Maybe one row or 2 in the middle or up the top..The bathroom is narrow so we can't have any dark or strong colors. But thought towels etc could pick up the spots!
