Aw 4 - I'd love him to have sibling (aka another little baby to cuddle) but it's not gonna happen.

But then on the other hand the fact that he starts school means my 4.5 years of self imposed exile will lift and I can get a life. Please?

Hence centre parcs treat for him - hopefully I'll be working soon and we can afford to take him abroad (ie not just mil's)next time.

Franca - how old are yours?

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 17:27

Dd will be 6 in 10 days
Ds will be 8 in July.
I do miss not having a little one around. But, all in all I don't think I want another child.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 17:28

Actually, I'm not brave/energetic enough to have another one!

Camomilla · 10/05/2010 21:17

hello! How's everyone? sorry haven't been around and have no energy to read the last few pages, so I hope alll is fine (if anyone wants to post a quuick summary.... ;-) ). Been veeeeeeeeeeeery busy at work obviously with the elections and haven't been in the office since thursday, but guess the next few months, whatever thee outcome, will be super busy... at home, no different, lots to do (knacckered today after doing big sorting out in the kitchen to accomodate new coffee machine - OMG, how much outdated stuff I managed to throw away, and now have soooooo much space so everything has magically disappeared in cupboards!!) on top of being dd's shadow, as she climbs on EVERYTHING, she's driving me insane! and then there's DS, who thinks he knows everything at the grand old age of 5.5....

anyway hope you're all well, hope to be back soon, now that I can keep an eye on MN on my new phone!!

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 21:28

Oh camo did you get an iphone at the end?

OP posts:
Sputnik · 10/05/2010 21:31

Hi Camo!
Oh yes, don't talk to be about all-knowing 5.5 year olds, I have one of those. In compensation she seems to be developing quite a dress sense, today she was decked out in flared leggings (IYSWIM) in lurid pink with pineapple and cherry print, short denim skirt and turquoise t-shirt, accessorised with sparkly rainbow headband and multicoloured necklace and bracelet. It was so bad it was good!

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 21:36

lol sounds like something dd would love too!

I know you really don't want to hear this, but... "wait 'till they are 7...."

OP posts:
Camomilla · 10/05/2010 21:49

no, I got an HTC desire, was very close to get the iphone, but this had better reviews than the 3GS, plus I got a really good deal so will hold on for the 4G when I can do video calls too (see, I spent weeks debating what to get and basically learnt anything and everything about all the latest smartphone - me, who's always gone for the cheapest thing so thought I could justify the treat!!!). but I'm loving it, just need to wait a couple of weeks til I can get my old number back, so still using my old one too.

Sput, that sounds sooooooo cute - DS is obsessed with looking "cool" and his latest thing are those fingerless gloves (from the easter egg) and back to front cap - he's into street dance at the moment

well, good night, had a glass of wine to get me ready for tomorrow, so typing is getting harder... buona notte

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 21:52

you've done some research there camo!

Wow, your ds must look sooo cute doing his street dance. Ds doesn't have a clue about looking cool, he hasn't registered this yet. The only thing he does is, when we are at inlaws, stealing fil's gel after a shower and lifting up his "ciuffo" he looks like a gallo cedrone

OP posts:
Sputnik · 10/05/2010 21:58

He sounds very cool Camo!
DD was demonstrating her break dance technique to DS only this afternoon (mostly involving spinning on her bum).

Rosa · 11/05/2010 13:05

Hi Camo ...LOL at the fashion models we have - DD is still on the matching pants and vest stage so have some ground to make up but we do rush past the Lelly Kelly shoe shop as she really wants a pair !
Its thunder storms here today .....Strange - mind you no hot humidity that we normally have by now so I shouldn't complain I guess.

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 13:25

DD would love a pair of lelly kelly too...

OP posts:
Rosa · 11/05/2010 13:34

I have to say that the pair she had ( bought in January 2 yrs ago when we went to the Canaries ) did actually last pretty well. SOme of the sparkles started coming off in the autumn. I am sure she would try to squeeze her feet in if I would let her. Her feet diddn't get sweaty in them either..... Will see how things go she has yet to learn that if she takes Papa past I am sure he would stop !

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 15:30

heeeeelp! It's raining cats and dogs here, what's happening?

OP posts:
Rosa · 11/05/2010 18:40

I got soaked agian so thats twice- Mind you it was really only face and legs/ feet as my Tk Maxx jacket is fab - it is waterproof and it doesn't drip down. I have a buggy brolly but its is the worst money I ever spent ....
Forecast is terrible........

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 19:02

I managed to avoid the latest acquazzone as I had just come back from picking up dd and other 4 children from nursery... ds and my mother who picked him up got soaked, I had to give my mother dry clothes, including shoes, and my feet are 3 numbers bigger than hers!

OP posts:
giveitago · 11/05/2010 21:23

Oh so they get cuter as they get older - that's good. But I'm a sentimental old bat - my gp had to comfort me when ds turned 3 months and I felt new motherhood was over.

DS is not bothered about what he wears - he's cultivating his inner nerd quite nicely. Only thing I've seen is that he wants to ditch his specs - no can do.

GB resigned - nice speech, shame he couldn't pull off that type of communication when he was leader. I'm sad and now very worried.

BananaGio · 11/05/2010 21:47

che palle this sodding weather!!! (sorry Brit based people but it's bloody May in Rome - it should NOT be miserable)
Ah GB, great speech. Cameron - invoking JFK in his speech
Trying to be positive here- Lib Tory pact cant last a full term and Labour have time to regroup and regain strength in opposition...
And Cameron wasn't able to be as hideously smug as I dreaded as he didn't really win.
And Osborne will be exposed for what he is.
Speriamo bene

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 21:51

Yes, great speech by Gordon, it brought tears to my eyes!

Awww Giveitago, I used to wear glasses as a child and used to hide them under the sofa the whole time (I still do it now and I'm 40)

Yes, che palle to the weather I say... my mother today had the nerve to say that the English weather is actually better !
Btw, yes, it is supposed to be sunny and warm in May. I bet you that it'll turn incredibly and unbearably hot and that will miss spring.

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 21:52

we'll not will

OP posts:
BananaGio · 11/05/2010 22:05

thats what happened last year- went straight to 35 degrees!! I feel cheated- I love spring in Rome!
ds still only bothered about wearing his "Thomas" tops or his Roma top! Although we did get him a pair of fake ray bans at the weekend which he is wearing with pride

Sputnik · 11/05/2010 22:09

Was actually vaguely nice here around sunset and we had dinner outside on our newly revamped terrace. There were probably several palazzi's worth of Romans going at us though.
I can't remember when I was still wearing tights in mid may, even up in the hills.

Francagoestohollywood · 11/05/2010 22:12

Awwww he must be so cuuute...
Ds was obsessed by his TTTE socks when he was a toddler... che teneroni!

Spring in rome must be wonderful! It's actually rather delightful here as well, or at least it used to.

I am trying to buy summer footwear, having real problems, I've spent the last 3 years in the same pair of sandals as can't find anything I like.
