I agree Sputnik. I always try to remind desperate mn that it can never be as bad as berluska, but they don't know much about B. I suppose.
Yes, lets have lots of tzatziky (sp?) in solidarity of the greeks. I probably can still remember a bit of ancient greek from when I was at school...
O muzos deloi etc etc

DD asked a few times where is my mamma but of course nonna was there who tried to defend her son and also say it was just a poseia and canzone . ( what I would have loved to hear as she is so good on her poems !)....DH stayed out to dinner last night after karate came home late then went to work at 7.30am I diddn't speak to him and he diddn't salutare - he has not called! I know I am in the right and I want an apology that he was wrong.
He has also not got dd to do a picture for me for domani - Mind you I don't expect he will remember anyway he is so up himself!
I am thinking minirosa might have this virus as she is coughing lots esp when she wakes up and she is off her food ( except fruit and bread ) But normally it is dd who gets things first and passes them on. Oh well will see. Her febbre seems to have gone but she was doing cold sweats this morning which is normally a sign that things are ending.
Franca hope your dd is getting better.
Gio so your FIL comes every sabato - you are 1 brave girl !
The Greece / mercati thing is a worry and the UK political situation will have an effect I expect negative on them as well. It is a concern .

Francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2010 13:35

Don't even get me started on the festa della mamma. Dh doesn't even know there is a festa della mamma.
Ds though wrote a poem at school. He wrote that to him I'm like "a cielo stellato tutto argentato..." Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Btw Rosa, don't give in, pretend an apology.

OP posts:
Sputnik · 08/05/2010 13:48

In your DH's defence Franca neither did I, til they handed me a mother's day card and a little pot to keep my earrings in lovingly decorated by DS at the nursery.

By the way forgot to tell you that after 5 hours at the policlinico the other day they concluded he doesn't have a hearing problem, which we knew but at least it is now officially ruled out.

Yes this virus has gone round our family too, I seem to have escaped so far....

Rosa · 08/05/2010 16:20

Thats also great news Sput mind you 5 hrs how was he - fed up I bet?
How lovely a pot for earrings - I love home made things like that. I got some coloured/ stuck in things from nursery but seeing how he loves what dd did / does for festa del papa I just hoped that it would rub off -WRONG !
Thing is mothers day is also his mothers birthday - a date that is saved in his I phone and it 'pings' today and domani so he can't forget.
So today I have so badly stress eaten I have probably ruined all my dieting efforts. We have made fairy cakes but I stuffed up the icing so I ate a bit in fact lots as it was fudgey but wouldn't spread.... In fact this week has been a bit of a bad week eating wise...........
Just had a huge rain storm .......

Francagoestohollywood · 08/05/2010 17:51

Sputnik, great news about having ruling out hearing prbs for good (5 hrs, wow, poor ds, and poor you!)

To be honest, I'm not too fussed about him forgetting dates/feste della mamma etc, but when I told him today he said that his mother is on holiday ... never mind

Rosa, I'd blame the weather for eating more than usual. Rain makes me want to eat the whole time.

OP posts:
BananaGio · 08/05/2010 18:04

don't talk about bad eating Rosa. Decided need to stop being such a greedy cow (yawn I bore myself listening to pathetic resolve for the 5 billionth time in my 38 years). Mainly bought on by a shopping spree this afternoon which ended up with one paltry top from Mango as all the trousers I wanted looked vile. And the sizing in Sisley made me want to cry!
Agree re Berlusca and Thatcher. Was talking to my Dad yesterday who went to visit his sister in Scotland last weekend. He was saying how depressing it was to see the mining town he grew up in and what it has been reduced to thanks to that cow. All my family there were miners going generations back and now 25 years after the miners strike ended there is still nothing for anyone there. It used to have such a strong community feel now it is dead, streets deserted, drugs, crime, no work. Horrendous. I have just finished the Wire season 2 and was saying to my Dad about it-so much struck a chord.
lol at Sput and greek salads in solidarity. Mmmmm feta cheese.

Sputnik · 08/05/2010 20:39

Yes 5 hours, unbelievable. For some reason they give everyone an apt at 8.30 am, so we had to get up about 6 and convince SIL to drive DD to school in order to make it. Then you have to pay the ticket, figure out where you're actually supposed to go (not the audiologogy dept, that would be too easy). The last hour was our fault as we waited in the wrong place to be recalled. DS was incredibly good apart from the last part.

Rosa I would have been bloody annoyed too and probably eaten tonnes of icing! Just get back on the waggon, from what you've said the diet was going pretty well, no? I've managed 6 kg since march on atkins, not spectacular but considering I cheat once or twice a week by eating pizza or something not bad.

BananaGio · 08/05/2010 21:06

is there a next step with ds then Sput? Any other tests he has to do? Good re hearing anyway, at least its something definitely eliminated

Sputnik · 08/05/2010 21:14

We were meant to see the speech therapist on friday for 3 hour evaluation but she was ill, so hopefully next week. Tbh we were all so shatered after the hearing ordeal it was probably for the best. Another trek across Rm, actually she is in your neck of the woods I think.

BananaGio · 08/05/2010 21:21

really - whereabouts?

Sputnik · 08/05/2010 21:36

Just sent you a message

BananaGio · 08/05/2010 21:42

just replied

Rosa · 09/05/2010 08:27

Diet was going ok - slow but going in the right direction - I don't think I drink enough water !
I hate the running round hospitals as everybody automatically thinks you should know where to go - the waiting areas are next to doors with numbers not what they do. WHen I took minirosa for her hearing test at 3 mths - Building C 2nd floor stanza 876 so something similar. Couldn't even find the zona C it was on the first floor behind a big white door with no sign on it !Good luck with speech therapist.
Had another barney last night he tried to shift the blame for me shouting at him on the phone If I had let him he was going to say ' Take minirosa in braccio down stairs and meet him meta strada and then I could go on. THis phone call was made at 15.34 to get to the nursery takes 10 mins - the festa was at 15.45. bearing in mind that minirosa had a febbre of 39.3 at 11am really wise idea ?
As I was so cross on Friday he hasn't done anything for today ( and is now at work).NOt even a picture done by the girls..... DD1 went down with febbre last night so maybe Minirosas febbre wasn't vaccinations.Time will tell.
Auguri tutti cmqe.........

Francagoestohollywood · 09/05/2010 10:03

Bah, men can be so stubborn at times. grrrrrr. Rosa, lets hope he comes home with a bunch of flowers! (btw, my dh has never bought me a bunch of folowers...). And oh no about dd1, ldet us know how she progresses.

Sputnik, I'm impressed you lost 6 kilos in kless than 2 months , well done! Do you find it easy to stick to a diet when you have dc?
I find it difficult to prepare 2 different meals, and also I often find myself eating up the leftovers (luckily there is less and less leftovers here, as ds eat massive amounts of food)

Gio, I rememberr reading lots of articles about old mining towns in wales/scotland etc, where there is no job, substance abuse etc etc. It's awful.
Did you enjoy season 2? It is my favourite after season 4, so poetic and tragic.

giveitago · 09/05/2010 13:58

Busy - oh stranded in Finchley bless - I'm stranded here all the bloody time!

I voted LibDem - not worth it as it's lab con here (Finchley was Thatchers constituency).

Well, if they pull off a deal it will mean that Clegg's little lot will at least get some experience in govt - them approaching the elections is akin to someone trying to get a job with no experience - this will change now.

But not a great time to have a hung parliament.

Labour don't stand a chance as even if they did a deal with lib they wouldn't have enough seats. And involving the other parties would get very very complicated.

I like the idea of electoral reform but depends what it is - surely with proportional rep we'd probably end up with a BNP seat in parliament.

Rosa - nice - carry a child out with a fever and meet him on the street. Not the greatest idea. But my dh is like that - he'll also sulk so I let him retreat to his cave until he wants to the see the light!

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 10:36

Oh any news giveitago? I think I should read the papers online

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 10/05/2010 10:43

Ah, here you are. Hey people. Hope you are all well. I have been hiding a bit from MN due to nasty pre-election political rows. Am now trying to make lemonade with political lemons and hope that the Labour Party can rejuvenate themselves in opposition.

I think a Labour deal with the Lid Dems would be a disaster for both parties. IMO, it's either a Lib/Con pact, or a Con minority government. Interesting times, anyway.

I should be working now. Very hard. But I have so much to do, it feels so overwhelming, that I am doing none of it, and am MN guiltily.

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 10:48

Hello Penth! Yes, I found the elections in the UK utterly interesting. A good way to keep my mind busy, instead of concentrating on Italian politics, which is far more depressing, imho.
I have similar hopes for the labour party.

OP posts:
Penthesileia · 10/05/2010 10:56

Yes, poor Italy, poverina.

Actually, it is a residual anxiety I have about PR: that the UK should avoid the political cancer from which Italy suffers, namely the fragmentation of the left. I'm assuming that since the radical left never really existed in the UK then such fragmentation would be unlikely under British PR. But you never know...

I suppose, looking on the bright side, what with UKIP and the BNP there is equally the "risk" of a fragmented right...

Hmm...

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 11:02

Indeed.
Mind you, I also blame Italian politicians' inflated ego . Sad, but true.

OP posts:
Rosa · 10/05/2010 12:48

Hi Penthe glad to see you are ok even if swamped with work and lots of things that keeps you away from here !
Whats the news today in the UK? - Haven't had Sky on today . Took Dd1 to Paed as she was complaining of sore thorat he did streptococco test as its rife in asili at the moment . We have the ok so it is viral- she is still in and out of febbre and off food ( apart from one of those Kinder summer egg things - the ones that look like white and brown nutella with 2 balls in ..she finished that off a treat !)Now we wait to see if MRosa goes down with it as well of if her 3 days fo febbre were the bug and/or the vaccinations !!!
DH sent flowers yesterday ............( I also got a sort of apology last night me thinks its the best I am going to get!)
FOul weather again ...Its been chucking it down all morning if they dare complain of water shortages this summer when the price of fruit goes up or whatever....

Rosa · 10/05/2010 12:49

Italians inflated ego .....No never

giveitago · 10/05/2010 14:09

Well, rosa - an apology of sorts.

Noone would do a deal with bnp - however under pr they could get a seat and that would cause me to go out a riot. That's my PR reservation - all very nice for the small parties but some of those UK small parties really suck.

Oh just listening to the news - looks like clegg is doing a deal with the tories and it's going 'well'.

I'm not a fan of coalitions and this is bad, bad timing for the UK - but we need some sort of electoral reform but don't know what as I haven't thought what would suit us.

dh voted labour for the local elections - ha ha - love em in the locals - the most corrupt arses you could meet.

I'm not a historical fan of Milliband - he was a blair advisor so that's a no no in my book. Blair advisors are not my favourite people. He might be OK now but I remember him when he was young and hip and I'm very dubious of the fact he's reinvented himself as a young and frumpy leader to put himself in the running. And being oh so coy about it.

Right back to spring cleaning and organising a 'do' for ds's birthday on sunday. It's heartbreaking seeing him grow up.Where's my baby gone.Where the bloody hell is he. I'm feeling broody for another.

Francagoestohollywood · 10/05/2010 15:26

Awwww how old is he going to be, 4?
