Fleur Hannah gets my vote.

Haven't read the whole thread, but if you really are going to call her something else PLEASE for her sake change it on her birth cert too. I have always been called by my middle name and that alone causes no end of problems (not to mention the fact that my dad got it wrong when registering my birth so my birth cert and baptismal cert were different until i sorted it out in my twenties.) There is no record at my uni of me under my real name! I know several people who are called something completely different to what is on their birth cert (don't know why) and it is a nightmare for them

Good point My FIL was 'adopted' by the nurse in his childrens home but his name was never changed, so although he has been Mr Peach for years, he is still officially Mr Ryall even though not used since two. Passport was a nightmare!

My SIL changed my younger niece's name when she was about 6 months old - officially. They had planned to call her Katherine/Katie, I think, but they never really liked it and used to call her all sort of nicknames, but never Katie. In the end they used her older sister's middle name and are very happy with it!
FWIW, I like Fleur best out of those names, but then I was always keen for my boys not to be one of 3 with the same name in their class (you know, having to be identified by their surname -Alex A, Alex C and Alex N). I know loads of Hannahs, Sophies and Megans, but only 2 Fleurs.
I think naming a child is a wonderful but anxiety-inducing thing - and really agree with Aloha about somewhat mourning for the names we will never use. I heard the other day that someone we know has called their son Rex, which I, but not DH, was v. keen on for DS2, and it almost made me want to have another son!

PeachyClair · 27/07/2005 18:40

Thank you! I like it, memorable, pretty and If I wanted to be a porn star I wouldn't have to change it!

spidermama · 27/07/2005 18:42

Change it, change it, change it.

Actually I think you're only allowed one change. Then you have to do it by deed poll.

Do it now or repent at leisure I say.
