Summer Holidays Stress Thread

Thought it might be helpful to have one thread where we can all come and have a little rant, as and when.

10.10am on Day 1 proper and my stress levels are low. Have already had a brief "he hit me...gerroff...he's got my book..." fracas but atm they are playing nicely together on the X-Box.

I could have done with this thread at 2pm on friday afternoon.

2 hours into the school holiday and I'd had enough.

Only 43 days to go!

I must be the only one for whom holidays is easier then!
Back in Britain after 24/7 wall to wall kids for the past 12 months (since ds was born actually.) Because so many people are now home with their kids,dd's (4)old nursery is pretty empty and they are taking him 2 days a week until I go back to Turkey in three weeks.

God,it's bliss. Dd and I are going to bake some bread then just chill out. I find the incessantly nosey fingers-into-everything baby stage the hardest.......

not too bad here at the moment either, however on Saturday afternoon, less than 24hrs after breaking up, I'd had enough.

thank heavens for day nursery - ds1 watching tv, ds2 at nursery

Young son finished nursery last Thursday and starts primary school in September.

Nursery was afternoons only and school will be full time... be nice to have my life back (or a large part of it) but at the same time I'll miss him, and therefore want to make the most of the holidays with him. Is this a normal dilemma?

Aaargh...screeching, gotta go.

My dd has been on holiday for nearly 2 weeks already.

Week 1: ballet exam, school activity camp, Brownies and swimming club still operating (Thurs and Sat)

Week 2: ballet lesson, school activity camp, swimming club still operating

Week 3: staying with my parents (without me or dh)

Week 4: ballet summer school, swimming club still operating

That's July and the first part of August sorted.

What am I going to do for the other 4 weeks (dd gets nearly 9 weeks hols)??

I'm here already, not doing well at all, feeling fed up and guilty and fed up.

Moondog you are a breath of fresh air.

I love having the kids around for the holidays.
I find they get on better with each other when they're not spending half the day in the stressful school environment.

I also love baking bread. Kids are great at it because they can really squash and squeeze during kneeding.

Pity the rain has arrived with the holidays though.

Good things today:

Made butternut squash soup for lunch which they both wolfed down two bowls of.
Played football in the garden with them (til it started raining).
Read some books.

Bad things today:

Threatening to lock them both in their rooms for the duration of the holidays.

Play-doh now and I've made a lamb jalfrezi for dinner.

Determined to end this day up on Good Mummy points.

I have no idea what happened but our DS1 seems to be possessed. He's quite full-on and hyper normally but almost from the minute he got home on friday he's been unbareable.

Honestly, I'm not sure if we'll make it to 6th September without one of us commiting murder

I'm with you there Emma.... was ready to murder/lose DSs by 6pm on Friday and they only broke up at 3...

I suspect my neighbours think I have just killed them with the amount of screaming and shouting that has just occured.

The start of the summer hols and raging PMT are a very VERY bad mix.
