Dancing. One for Strictly fans perhaps?

DH is having dancing lessons (long story)

He is being taught to put his hands out (Cha cha) with the middle finger downmost. Woman teacher.

We're both sre that it was mentioned in Strictly as "girls hands". Boys apparently do it differently. I'd say index finger upmost, but don't really know.

any ideas?

When it was on strictly, it was a female professional and the judges pointed out that of course, she wouldn't know what boys do. And that the hands were different.
