I think I may have created my own life form!!!

I have 2 large bamboo sticks on of which sprouted another stem. This new stem had grown it's own roots so I cut it from the main sticks and put it in it's own vase.
The other 2 got a really good clean, new water, cleaned the stones that are with it and the vase.

2 days later I found lots of little, what look like miniture tadpoles swimming in the water. I've had another look today and they're getting a bit bigger. They're mainly all round the vase at the top of the water.

So my question is, what are they, where have they come from and what shall I do with them???

ooh insects prob nat laphe[spelling]the ones that bite you!...they live in stagnant water like water butts etc.so if your vase was [polity] smellyish thats why you have them

But this is what I don't understand, they've come 2 days after I cleaned it.

Dirty things!

I don't think the water has to be stagnant, just still - the pool was only in the garden for a few days

So I need to get rid of them don't I.

Where will they have come from then? Is it just eggs from an insect?
