I've got tinted windows in my car.Someone was telling my that the police are inpounding cars with them.Do you girls no anything about it ? I can't find anything on the news about it.They are measuring how tinted they are.What is a safe tint then?

not sure but there was an article in the paper resently about people in Leeds (?) I think - up north that way whose cars were deemed unsafe due to the darkness of the tint. There is an offical guide to the amount of light that must pass through - perhaps contacting someone like the AA or something might be a help. Sorry I can't be more helpful...

In case you check this thread and not the other ....

Windscreens must let in 75% of light, front side windows 70% - original factory fitted windows will be fine, but any sort of after-sales treatment may be too dark.

If you have a 2nd hand car try to contact the original owner to see if the tint is 'factory standard'. If you can't (or they don't know)then get it checked out at a reputable garage to be on the safe side.
