If it's emulsion it should just come off in hot soapy water then.

I've got a stupid book with things in about this. I'll have a look for you and see what it says.

Right the book says...

Wash tools and equipment in soapy water if using a water based paint, and with white spirit (paint thinner) or a proprietary brush cleaner for solvent based (oil) paint. Soak hardened paint in paint remover overnight, then wash out with hot soapy water.
