How do you sell an unwanted engagement ring?

Not mine but a friend who needs the dosh waaaay more than she needs the ring. Where is the place to go? Jewellers? Yellow pages?

Auction?

I sold mine at a jewellers. I'd never worn it but didn't get anything like the cost of the ring. Partly because it was engraved. The ring had cost 2.5k and the jeweller gave me £600.

Most independent jewellers will take it off her hands.

Dunno really - best take it to a few places and see what they offer her, its not usually very much though

If only she could just sell the bloke... mind, he probably wouldn't fetch as much.

She could try an ad in the local paper, might get something closer to what was paid, rather than trade price?

Thanks all. I think I'll suggest to her that if she wants to see what she can get for it, try ebay or local paper. If she wants to not take it so seriously, maybe we could trawl the high street together, hawk it to highest bidder, and go for lunch on the proceeds
