We had an old 4 bed and spent £80 a month on gas CH. It was freezing, but in a modern house it would've been fine! We have also moved now to a modern house. It is lovely and warm, but all electric so can't help you there.

That is helpful...and choc teapot wouldn't melt here
We have spent approx £250 every 6 weeks in OIL I know it has been cold winter but that is way too much and bonkers so £80 sounds good.We are also quite hardy but had to use it for heating water too and wouldn't have minded but we still weren't basking

Oh, the cosiness of a newer house is sheer bliss after years in a fridge.

We did and still do the cost spread thingy the power companies offer. Better than massive bills in the winter.

£250 for 6 weeks worth of oil.

I know!We need to move nearer school for ds1 so am looking at newbuilds. However we have 2 dogs a3 year old ds and a 10 year old ds .We are renting from an Estate...and they leave us alone and don't come round twittering.I am scared of renting from twittery landlord who dosen't really want you to treat house as a home[ifykwim]we are fab tenants but have had weird experiences in the past...eek.
