Help needed! (Present to be delivered to Spain on/by Mon)

Hi

I wonder if anyone can help? It's my mum's 70th birthday on Monday. My sister and I 'always' go halves on presents and I bought Christmas and reminded her at the beginning of last month that she would need to do her birthday but she has now come back and said that 1) she has no money (!) and 2) she doesn't know what she wants because when she asked my mum said "I don't know".

I am a bit angry because I have had to think up the last few years worth of presents from us and she hardly ever pays me back. I know what she's like and I guess I am angry with myself as I know her past form and shouldn't have relied on her.

Anyway, I have spent today with a fractious one year old walking round the shops and cannot find anything I like enough to buy her for a special birthday.

I am REALLY hoping that someone knows of a fab website (perhaps Spanish?) from which I can buy something nice which will be delivered on time. My budget is only about £60 as I am not confident I will get the money back.

I have arranged for flowers before but they never make it to their house (they live in the back of beyond) so I need soemthing that will go by regular post/courier.

Can anyone help. PLEASE ??????

Many thanks in advance!!

No idea, but you could also try posting on Living Overseas if you don't get any tips here.

Or call a local florist and get them to deliver flowers?

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 16:27

Hi Mme Lindt

Thanks for that. I didn't see that - I will post as suggested.

It was a local florist I used (who couldn't find their house!!)

Thanks again.

Well, they should be able to find the house now. You will have to send flowers monthly until they know where they are going.

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 16:33

Lol. They didn't care they didn't know where it was, they just kept it in the shop until my father collected from them. It happens all the time with everything. You can see their house but as it's not on a tarmac road the Spanish claim not to be able to see it so my father has to meet everyone in the village and show them up!

Not sure why that happens - it's a Spanish built house and they are intergrated into the community. Just how it is I guess ...

Thanks again - I have posted on the Living Overseas forum as suggested. Fingers crossed...

Fimbow · 02/03/2010 16:37

How about this?

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 16:39

Maybe you could have avoucher from El Corte Inglés sent to her or soemthing?

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 16:44

Hi

I like the El Corte Ingles voucher idea. As I have no idea what to buy her (jewellery was my best guess but can't see anything I think she'd like - we have different tastes!)

She doesn't drink much - or rather, what she does drink is cheap and local. I'm not sure she would appreciate a fine wine as the wine is pretty good around there anyway.

OK, hate to sound thick Shitemum, but how do I get a voucher? That link took me to baskets of things.

Thanks again all.

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 16:45

hang on, am looking

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 16:49

voucher and flowers but a bit pricey

just voucher

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 16:51

does you mum actually have a Corte Ingles nearby?

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 16:56

Hi Shitemum

Thanks for that. Yes, she has a few local-ish. I think she will enjoy making my father take her shopping - (she thinks) he normally tuts if she buys things! Not that it stops her of course ...

And, delivery in 48 hours - fab. Delivery will be on/by Monday.

Thanks again!

No problem - if you need help with the Spanish let me know - it says you can add a message when you've chosen the card and amount.

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 17:12

Thanks so much. OK. I am guessing the candles one is birthday ... then I choose

Importe: ? Unidades:

Say I was gong to buy 60 Euros what do I do?

OP posts:
Shitemum · 02/03/2010 17:14

you can choose any one you like but the candles one is probably most appropriate - put the amount you want in 'importe' but hang on im going to see what the delivery costs are

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 17:18

cant see if theres a delivery charge but maybe they'll show it before you complete the order

so put the amount in 'importe' and how many cards (1) in 'unidades'
then click on 'comprar' and you should be able to write a message

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 17:23

p+p is 9.80 euros

Shitemum · 02/03/2010 17:27

theres a big form to fill in.
'datos del comprador' - put your details in here name in 'nombre' and surname in 'apellido'

'datos del envio' - choose 'a otro domicilio' and put yout mums name and address in

then card details

at the bottom is 'dedicatoria' - 'para' put your mums name here and 'de' put your name(and your sister's?!) here
then write the message in the box

put your eMAIL IN THE BOX AND CLICK ON TRAMITIR PEDIDO

whoops sorry about caps

minkeymonkeymoo · 02/03/2010 17:28

Hi

Almost 10 Euros. Blimey!

My lo is all over the laptop at the mo so will have to check on this later. I may be back later/tomorrow if you are around?

Thanks very much for all your help

OP posts:
Shitemum · 02/03/2010 17:51

ok, i accidently hid the thread !

am always often around

minkeymonkeymoo · 03/03/2010 10:45

Hi Shitemum

I wondered whether you were around at the mo?

I have registered my details but am having problems filling out my parents address. They have a postbox in the village (all of the village do, no post delivered to their houses) so they have an address and a 'CDxx' number. Where do I put this number as this is very important?

Many thanks

minkeymonkeymoo · 03/03/2010 12:17

Hi

No worries, sorted it - of sorts! Fingers crossed it gets there.

Thanks again for your help!

Hi, sorry, forgot to check thread - hope it arrives ok!

havinganightin · 24/03/2010 09:22

Hi Shitemum

Thanks for thinking about me.

Actually it didn't arrive - it's all a bit of a nightmare! I got an email saying that they couldn't deliver it (they had called my parents and arranged to meet them at the town hall in the village but were going to call back when they got there but never did...!) My parents went to an el corte inges shop with the email I received and was told that it is a different branch of the company who deals with the vouchers and they can't do anything about it!

Unfortunately I bought it with my debit card and it has come out of my bank ...

Not sure what to do next Any ideas? I'm guessing an email to el corte ingles ....
