Could you please share with me

  • What interesting and/or provocative written questions you were asked?

  • If your written application was successful and you (or your client) were invited for an interview, what were you asked?

  • Any tips for what sort of questions make for effective and informative written applications?

  • What sort of questions make for an interesting, lively and informative in-person interview?

Thank you!

It has all depended!

i got a very big grant from a funder - the form was very brief and the interview was very relaxed

on the other hand, we got money from another funder, and the interview, application and subsequent reporting are much more onerous

I think you need to be passionate, clear and concise

demonstrate the need for the project and how you have identified this need

show how it doesn't replicate exisiting services

show how many people will benefit and how the people using the service will remain involved with it

if you have service users make sure they are involved with the interview process as well. They can be more eloquent than a fundraiser
