York,Harrogate...more suggestions

Hi all
We have been thinking for ages now we'd like to make a move. We've been thinking north Yorkshire, Richmond was our first thought but we're going to have a look round York and Harrogate at the weekend i hope.
So any people from that neck of the woods on here.Is it a nice place to live?
Any advice, thoughts welcome.
We were thinking of a 'Life in the country' move but realistically, we have 3 young children, DP is busy working away alot, i'm studying so within reach of cities would be nice too, that's why i thought of York

I lived in York for 5 years as a teenager and really liked it. Quite convenient, friendly, good shopping, nice pubs, not too big, has history, on main transport links etc.

Think York is top at the moment. Anyone recommend any good schools?
They are in Private up here but i'm open to any thoughts on any good schools, it's a whole big change so if there are some really good state schools there it would be great.
