Are there any women that you think make good role models for your daughters (other than yourself!)
and for what reasons?

Tanni Grey Thompson (paralympic athlete).. for her determination.

I think she's a bit more savvy than your usual poppette. Quite a good archytype. Positive anyway.

monkeytrousers · 14/07/2005 09:59

Kylie, not Madonna

oliveoil · 14/07/2005 10:00

spiky fish today

No, I think she is a strong woman, with ideas above her station sometimes, but a good role model all the same.

fishfinger · 14/07/2005 10:01

why is she?
I can really see nothign differnt or courageous abotu her

monkeytrousers · 14/07/2005 10:02

Good grief, archetype I mean

oliveoil · 14/07/2005 10:03

Because she has been successful for 20 odd years in a very hard industry. And alwasy seems to get what she wants.

fishfinger · 14/07/2005 10:03

er like all sorts of poeple

puddle · 14/07/2005 10:04

Madonna - genuinely ground breaking woman. Challenged all sorts of taboos re: women's role and how they should behave.
Kylie - wiggled around in gold hot pants

moozoboozo · 14/07/2005 10:05

Not Natasha Kaplinsky then Fishy?

fishfinger · 14/07/2005 10:06

sticka round long enough dn oyu turn into an icon

dyzzidi · 14/07/2005 10:08

Victoria Beckham for carrying on regardless what other peoples opinions are. Trying to continue her failing career and hold a family together after finding out her husband was cheating on her. Not whinging in the press about how she feels just getting on with her life. I think a strong woman deserves respect.

I am really going to annoy people with that one

Just because she's got a nice bum doesn't exclude her from praise, surely.

They both kind of expolited a very sexist industry and inverted a few stereotypes.

Madonna seems a bit screwed up these days though. Might be a mid-life crisis, but that's a different thread..comes to us all in the end!

monkeytrousers · 14/07/2005 10:10

That's why Fishy!

fishfinger · 14/07/2005 10:12

how did kylie break sterotypes HOW HOW HOW
i dont accept it

WideWebWitch · 14/07/2005 10:15

God, Victoria Beckham? For Standing By Her Man I couldn't do it, even for that man (who I fancied until it became obvious he was a cheating toad)

fishfinger · 14/07/2005 10:16

well shes a twat then

Gobbledigook · 14/07/2005 10:16

Why look up to anyone? Be who you are - end of.

Gobbledigook · 14/07/2005 10:17

I would have kicked him out but she wants to be with him and she has took a lot of stick from people like us for it. Thats what I mean by a strong woman I'm sure even her familly disagreed with her.

She definately does not bow down to peer pressure surely that fact is to be admired.

lou33 · 14/07/2005 10:19

agree gdg

northerner · 14/07/2005 10:19

Am sitting on the fence re Kylie.

oliveoil · 14/07/2005 10:20

Are you wriggling on the end of a line somewhere fish? You seem a bit cross this morn.
